Very nice! I just got mine about a week ago. It is a scalpel. The sheath is very tight too. A+

Yup, it is a very nimble blade and quite the cutter. Just got mine and will be trying it out at the fish cleaning table starting next week.

I was excited to have this one come in this morning so I just had to put up some pics. I have zero use time with it, I will be looking forward to trying it out in the kitchen tonight. First impression in the hand was very nice, blade grind was typical per Spyderco although a leaner grind. Can't wait to put my edge on it but will run factory edge at first. The sheath is 10's, very nicely done. This knife was bought as a prelude to a 7" chef coming from Phil. :D

I will be looking forward to reading your experience from the cleaning table, Surfingringo.

I had to pick one up and have had it for a few days now. It's been destroying fruit and is a great slicer. I love how the smooth handle becomes a little tacky once wet.

What angle are you guys sharpening this? Don't have much experience with such a thin edge.

I think the bevel is around 15-18* but that's just a guess. I haven't sharpened mine yet. I will most likely reprofile but I need to live with it for a while first.

Hopefully, someone else will chime in with more knowledge.

I resharpened mine to 30 degrees. Razor sharp 600 grit finish. It's going to rip through the fish. FWIW, I have used Phil's thinly ground s90v with a 30 degree edge and never had any problem with edge damage.

Do you use a Norton stone or something else?

OK cool, I have an Atoma 600 plate for an EP. I'll give it a try first to see how it does. Do you put a micro bevel on?

Not really. At those lower grits, I just finish it with progressively lighter strokes. You should be able to get a crazy sharp coarse edge with the ep and that Atoma 600. I have done a decent amount of testing and found that once I take steels like s90v/s110v past 1200 or so, it gets pretty difficult to see any real performance difference between them and steels like s30v. I find these steels tend to excel with lower grit coarse edges.

Awesome, I don't have any experience with S90v, only s110v. I will take your advise and use the Atoma on the EP and forego the micro. Can't wait to try this out on some fish this summer. I'm a casual fisher but avid knife user. I really dig trying different steels. Thanks for your advice, Surfingringo.

Good luck on the fish! That 600 Atoma edge should be ideal for fish work. A more refined edge will slide all over fish scales. And that edge will also bring out the best in s90v. I can't wait to get back in the water and put this knife to use. I'll be launching on Sunday. If I have any luck i'll post pics up.

Sweet, good luck to you as well. Keep us updated on your adventures on the water and the cleaning table. Love to see the pictures of knives being put to good use.

Great looking knife. Okay, now I know what my wife has to get me for our next anniversary.

Thanks for the advice. Look forward to seeing your turnout.
