Had this Sage1 for a couple years, and like it, but find it getting very little pocket time.
Modded the scales about a year ago - sanded thru the CF veneer to expose the G10, and contoured em.
Yesterday, decided to give her the ole choppy-chop. Went for a sheepsfoot-esque blade shape, and lengthwise wanted the bare miniumum handle length to still get a four finger grip. I was surprised by the lines - I really like the look of this chop. The tip is dropped significantly, which makes it way more useful for me as an edc.

That is a knife I'd buy. If the Sage were a less expensive starting point I'd be willing to pay to get one modified. Really like that entire package!

Thanks for the kind words everyone! Been carrying and using this for the last couple days, and it's a real winner imho. Copping a Sage5 soon to chop into a compression lock version of this one.

Looks good, I like it.

Been working on mine too, taking a little off here and there.

What did you use to chop it? Looks very nice, well done.

Thanks Kingston. I used a dremel w/ reinforced cutting wheel to chop, and a belt sander to refine the shape, back to the dremel (sanding barrels), then hand sanding 60-400 grit.

Thank you. I would love to see pics of your modded Sage, I'm always inspired by seeing what other modding-inclined folks come up with!

I prefer the full length blade and pocket clip, so limited how much I can chop the butt.
Don't like how tall the blade is, so working the spine down.
The handle belly has to go, but limited by the lock bar.
Also a little off the top of handle, but keeping the contour.
All sharp edges removed, except the blade of course.
The changes are small but already feels and handles better. Still a work in progress.

Looks great! I worked out my Sage 5, the day you posted this.. I had to look at hardware placement, after looking at yours.

Mine was more for blade shape... I always enjoyed the way the Sage, felt in hand.
I've had the 1, 2, 3, & now 5... I have enough lockbacks..
Sold all of them, and mainly once the Sage 5 was announced.. :)

But... I wanted more of a PM2 blade shape.. specially with the long wait on the "PM3"..
OG shape..

Ooohhhhh yyyeeeeaaaahhhhhh... I think I might have to borrow your rounded butt idea!
Nice work!

I might not even have to buy a "PM3".. (lmao, yeah right!) Haha..
But I might wait till there is something other then black/satin.. maybe a sprint or atleast a DLC..

Thanks guys, I like seeing changes that makes a tool more useful to its owner.
Winnerone23, my blade will eventually end up close to yours, still working on it and the handle.

I can appreciate the sheepsfoot. Nice job!!

The PM2 shape better. I like my Sage 1 a lot, but....I think I always wished there was less of a hump on the spine.

That sheepsfoot is cool! I'd love to buy one, the entire package looks soooo right. Nice work.
