I've long carried a 110 (or should I say, a variety of 110s). Yesterday, I went out and bought a Squire, and I'm I knocked out. Ideal for everyday carry in an office environment--with lockup as smooth and as sure as a 110. Boy, I can just imagine what the Duke must have been like.

I wish I had a Duke too.

I also wish I had a Squire, but all of the ones I see have a pretty bad problem with the lock bar "closing" too far when the knife is closed. Kind of annoying. Same with the Knight. Is your like that?

No. Not at all. My model is the 2004 model (upside down T), and the back spring is perfectly flush when the blade is opened. Absolutely no blade play. And I keep the bolsters polished. I carry my Squire in an A.G. Russell pouch in my right front pocket. I agree that the sheath that comes with the Squire leaves an annoying imprint on the bolster.

Another way to carry the Squire(501) is in a clip pouch made by Williwm Henry. I believe it's the T 12 size. Clips in the front pocket real well.

I have always liked the Squire, it is a great pattern. I have two - one that I got in the 70s, with micarta scales, and a 501 Master Series with BG-42 blade. That is a top-notch carry. Maybe if enough people asked for it Buck would offer the 501 with BG-42 blade in a special run, or from the custom shop.

I have a micarta handled model #500 Duke that my Pop gave me when I was a much younger man. It traveled around the world with me while I was a KC10 crewchief in the USAF. It is a great knife!

Mine has been retired in honor for sentimental reasons!
