I'm pretty sure we all know the Ka-Bar story , I reread it every so often .
Anyhow , a relative new knife maker has a good story , I think . Here it is hope you enjoy it .

I like the spike too , I have the A100 (knife) . The bolster is made of 303 SS and so is the spike , a while back some water got in my rigging bag . It sat there long enough that it pitted the Bolster and spike . I could polish it out but I think I like It . ARRG .

My best friends kids are Boy Scouts, one is an Eagle now but anyway they were hanging out at my shop one day tying knots and struggling to get them untied. I gave them a cheap rigging knife I had in my desk and they were amazed at how effective the spike was.

then I bored them with a little bit of history about the name when they thought it was named after the fish.

They don't make that exact one any more , they call it the B100 now . I'm not a fan of the shackle hole in the blade .
