I read the Strain Trilogy, and saw bits and pieces of the first few episodes, and I don't have cable or satellite so I couldn't finish it. Not really impressed at first. Looks like I missed out, the vampires are pretty cool judging by the coming attractions videos on the show's Facebook page. The majority of the book is very scientific based, however, the ending of the trilogy is very religious/mythological and spiritual. A great story that had some bumps and probably could have been written better but overall enjoyable. I'm looking forward to getting this on DVD when it comes out. What are your thoughts on the series? It will probably take three seasons to tell the story, but it is still a mini series I guess. Any news on when it will come back?

I only watched the first three episodes. Based on that limited exposure my opinion is similar to yours of the book. The dialogue could be more crisp and the side plots could be sewn in a little better.
The story itself is definitely intriguing . Its also refreshing to see a different spin on vampires. Biological as opposed to supernatural.

I watched the whole first season and admit I enjoyed it. I was very happy to see it was renewed for next year. I saw there will be a season 1 DVDs in December available.

It doesn't follow the books as closely as I had hoped. Still, well produced and acted overall. I guess I would say one of the few worthwhile shows on tv nowadays, bit I'm also a big Guillermo del Toro fan so I'm sure that effects my judgment.

I think the show is poorly acted and average at best. I watch it, and I have a good time so that's something. It does irk me that it is dumbed down for TV viewers.

I think the special effects are decent. I've heard grumblings about the way the Master looks, but I think it's different and pretty cool.

The best actor is Eichorst. That guy is creepy, mean, and evil to the bone. Very believable. All the good guys are terrible though and the writing is a tad too melodramatic.

I really liked the book and the scientific spin. It's also nice to see vampires as monsters and not sexy.

Watched all of season one and I loved it. I cant wait for the next season, i really would like to see more of those Special Ops Ninja vampire killing vampires lol.
