The right scale gets a #5X40TPI Helicoil, and the left scale gets counterbored to accept the cap screw cap. This is the same type of screw used on the Buck 186 Titan except it is stainless.
The clam shell coin purse holds the thumb stud, the pivot bushing, the rocker spring, the cap screw, appropriate tool bits, and a sawed off ignition wrench. The blade is packed in a check in bag. The handle and tool kit are carried on.
This rig will accommodate any 110 blade including the old style Selectors. Turning your knife into a kit discourages pilfering by baggage personnel.

I haven't been too active on the forums lately as we are in the process of moving two hours further east (to the coast) just spent our first two nights in our new home. Bought a rack of ribs at the grocery deli for dinner last night, but we haven't moved our kitchen cutlery yet; Buck 110 to the rescue! This old two dot, with a Buck Spa 2000 Edge, sliced them open - this is what's left after we ate. OH

Here is a Buck Akonua I picked up. Not sure what kind of wood the handle is. Any thoughts? I am a little puzzled as to it's history so I might have to reach out to Buck. It has Serial # 235 which is different than if it were a normal old custom shop serial # 0235???? Maybe it was an employee service knife but that seems like a high serial # for an employee Akonua since I haven't seen one other one out there? Who knows? Thought it was a cool looking knife so I had to get it. I'm sure I'm not the only one that has this problem regularly:D:D

Mike - Nice Akonua. I have a couple Kalinga's and an Akonua with that same handle. I think it is rosewood. I will check and see if there is a coa with any that states the wood used.

Steel...y, I think it is from the old custom shop. Somebody paid for real wooden handle scales and a mirror polished "custom" blade. I have no idea what kind of wood it is. Nice knife you have!
