Last week was my first try at the SPS with my old retired 2 dot 110 EDC. This week I am posting my two newer EDC's...a large Vantage Pro and a Buck Custom Shop 110 with smooth buffalo horn handles I had made back in February of this year. I end up carrying the Vantage more often only because I don't wear a belt very often.

A big thank you to 300Bucks for some pointers in better picture taking. I ended up taking well over 50 pictures of these two knives this week. These are the best of what I have. I am learning about lighting, positioning of knives, background and reflections...and still have a long way to go. I hope to make a white box this coming week to help with the quality of my pictures in future SPS's.

Thanks to ItsTooEarly for getting the SPS started each week!!

The engraved "Stumpknocker" on the 110 is my trail name when I'm backpacking. It has actually become more common in the last ten years to hear people call me that or "Stumpy" or "Stump" than by my real name which is Mark.

I would like to make my SPS contribution a photo tip, after the kind lead in by Stump aka Mark...

Acquire some eraser both solid and mouldable. The grey stuff is soft and can be broken off in small pieces and moulded into different shapes. These cut from solid rubber or pinched off the mouldable stuff are used to tilt, or hold or in other words make the knife look just right for the camera. These are good to deal with reflections and turning the view to make the stamping show up well. I have several wedges cut but seem to use the grey more. I generally hide them under the knife and not include it in photo. If you need to have them show, then the white solids work better.

Looks like I have a couple of parts knives.

Hi All,

What another fantastic start to the SPS! Thanks to all for posting photos of your Buck knives. Sorry it's been 3 weeks and still no new shots for old JB.....the wife has me in her pocket if you know what I mean;).

Here is an interesting tid-bit for us to roll around. I was sitting at the computer last week and typed into my browser "Buck Knife Photos" so see what may come up. There were some very nice Buck knife shots out there for public view. Then I opened one of the links and saw on the first page some of the shots from one of the folks here....WOW "thats cool", then I got to page 3 and my avatar shot was there? Now as I went from page to page I saw many of copies of our photos from here. Each one had our photo tag lines....but, its food for thought.

Here is an old shot of some bare butt Bucks (Can anyone name the LE/SOs & year of issue in this photo?)

Great knives everyone. I really like the first BBQ set. I bet thats a rare one.
I've finally got a set of 1 liner 110's (blade marking variations) and I think my collecting will slow down now. Here's hoping! Happy Halloween!!
