Nice Buck 102 Woodsman gents - great little Bird & Trout style knife. Desoto, I sure like all your vintage variations! I used my Buck 102 last week to clean ducks (a decent amount of ducks) and was thinking while I cleaned what a perfect knife for the job, but I cannot post new photo's anymore (I am in need of a new, simple hosting website). Here is an old picture from a couple of years ago with the Buck 102 I used - can't see the knife too well. Touched up the edge on this one and on a Buck 118 yesterday and packed them back in my hunting bags - deer season is over Monday and duck has one more month. Happy New Year! OH

Happy New Year everyone!
Only have a short time before company starts arriving, so hurried and took these pics to post for today's SPS.

This is a well used 102 that I kept for my personal use...although I mostly end up using my 110.

Last day of 2017 --- Happy New Year to all, and best for a peaceful & blessed 2018!!:)

I've enjoyed visiting the SPS for quite a while now. But I have not been able to post photos for a very, very long time -- ever since my PB folders went kaput. Just this morning on another forum, one fellow shared a new-to-me web photo tool, and I think I can post again! This is my test run on the BF; and here's my story on a new Buck Custom 112 I "designed" this past fall.

The History behind this Buck 112 build.
In July 2017, my dear wife Joyce of almost 34 years passed away. In October I decided I wanted a memorial knife to remind me of our very special relationship, and wonderful married life together. So the Buck Custom shop is where I told our story.

We had "nicknames" for each other, mostly used when we wrote notes or gave each other cards. These were TDH and SGB.

Our marriage motto was HIHIGL, which was an acronym we created meaning "Hand In Hand In God's Love." We based this motto on two Scripture portions where God expressed His love for us: in the OT - Zephaniah 3:17, and in the NT - John 3: 16.

So the Buck blade displays our nicknames and marriage motto. I engraved it into what Buck stated is the best steel, a blade made out of S30V steel.

The scales are Cherrywood, and the bolsters are nickel. I engraved the years of our marriage on the bolsters, 1983-2017.

The Memorial Knife Display

Finally, I went to a craft store to try and build a wall display for this Buck. I love wood, and thought the knife would look good on the wall. Found a very cool-looking wood base, bought two wood "hangers," which I painted flat black and mounted on the base. The hangers happened to be my wife's first-name initial, which added to the memory. Here is the final display.

Bozhidar, my condolences for your loss. Thanks for posting, that 112 is wonderful.

Happy New Year to you ITE and everyone else, may 2018 bring you all the best. Thanks again for the SPS.

I have a user 102, doesn't see much use as I like the 118 so well. I have had other 102s and gifted them to young hunters and knife nuts which will be the fate of this one when I next see my 'great' nephew. Preston
