The Sunday Picture Show... (2-15-2015)

Hello everyone, it's time again for the Sunday Picture Show... This Show is for everyone... So feel free to talk about and compliment each other about there new or old Buck knives... We all like to show are new or older knives that we just got or had for years... So everyone please share and post a picture of one of your Buck knives or a picture with lots of Buck knives... Fixed blades or folders... Post all the pictures you want, but save some for next Sundays Picture Show... Post a new picture or a old picture... If you only have one Buck knife or alot of Buck knives... Just take some new Picture of it or of them and just get creative and make Buck Proud... Thanks, ItsTooEarly ...

Here's my pictures for the SPS... This Sunday I have a Sweet 422 that was a gift from a good friend
James (gedlicks)... Most of you that know me, know that my favorite Buck Knives are Bucklites...
Anyway James gave me this knife around Christmas time it came in the mail two day before Christmas...
What a surprise it was... I waited till Christmas to open it... Leroy Remer made this Bucklite when he
worked for Buck in the old custom shop... It was from his personal collection...
He told me about it a long time ago... Some how James got it from him... Well I asked Leroy about it...
He said he used to trick Chuck Buck with it... Leroy said that Chuck would come by the custom shop to
see what he (Leroy) was making or working on and Leroy would set this Bucklite on his workbench when
Chuck would come by... and than flip it over when Chuck would come by again and he did that for awhile
or so and Chuck stop and asks him one time, wasn't there a Black Knife there earlier and
Leroy would say no... He would walk by and scratch his head and Leroy finally handed him the knife
and I guess they laughed about it... Chuck said, he thought that he was going crazy...
It must have been fun working in the custom shop back than...

Thanks again James, for the great gift and it will always mean a lot me...

Thanks for looking and enjoy the show...

A terrific Christmas present ITE. You must have been good. Thank you for the funny story.

A couple of newbies. Momentum 294 with S30V and the Apex 818 carbon fiber frame lock with 420 HC along with an Open Season pin:

Steve, your welcome and please tell us more about the new 818...

How do you like it... The good and the bad... ...

Thanks for sharing on the SPS....

Great pictures of the new Buck knives...:thumbup::thumbup:

I can't wait to get are New 2015 Dealer Catalog

:)

Okay Steve, tell me about the 294 too... They look great...

Are they from Larry already... I want that pin... Where can

I get one... :)

Armand…I thought you were showing us two different knives today when I looked at the first couple pictures. That's a good story…I really like knives that come with stories!
James is a good guy for sending you that Bucklite. I think he likes large Buck knives with mirror finish blades and either mammoth ivory or Samber stag. (just in case you're thinking of what to get him next Christmas) :)
Anyway…thanks for getting another SPS posted this week for all to enjoy.:thumbup::thumbup:

Steve…you always take excellent pictures of your knives!!:thumbup::thumbup:

These three Buck 110's came in this week from a friend in Germany.

I had always wanted a BuckCote 110, but never got around to picking one up. This week I received two of them….one black blade and one gold blade.

The 1991 grey bone 110 was a pleasant surprise! Herbert said there is not much information about it. He thinks they were a small run that was sold mostly in Europe. I believe he said even Joe couldn't tell him much about it.
Anyway…what a GREAT week in knife collecting for me!! :)

Stumps, Great pictures like always and some sweet knives...

and your welcome and Thank you for making are show the

best anywhere on the Planet...

Thanks to all who post and share part of your Collection

with all of us every Sunday and you know who you are...

You guys make this show work...

:)

Sumps, I am glad you like the gray bone 110. :)
The Buckcote knifes are nice too ;). Here's another Buck knife with a coated blade.
Thank you, Armand, for another GSOE :).

Nice folders gents. Habbie, one of those wood handled 119 Buck's is on my "to get" list - nice! I think the Cherrywood SFO at the pro-fishing store is the one I want. I went bird hunting with some friends a couple of weeks ago, carried this Buck 321 that my Dad bought years ago. OH

Good morning everyone and thanks Armand for another great show! Ok Steve, give us the low down on the new models. I'm especially interested in the Momentum as I was thinking about it as an addition to my EDC rotation.

This 112 was the 2011 Club annual. It is number 125 of 125 made.

Thank you for your questions. Here are some answers. (I've also ordered the boot knife and the new 119, all from terrific Larry Oden, so something to look forward to, note that the pin was in the package as a gift so thank you kindly Larry you giant among mere mortals you). Thank you everyone for your kind words you are all too kind.

Momentum is an improvement over the much earlier and very very similar assisted opener the Tempest (296 with ATS-34). It is easier to grip, fits the hand better, is less likely to slip during pushing or pulling cuts sparing your hand, the lock folds neatly and completely into the frame of the knife when open, its clip makes for deeper pocket carry and it looks richer. Both have screw construction, however, I don't know about the pivot tool for the Momentum. It is a substitute for a switchblade, the 898 Impact, that you might be able to carry legally depending on your jurisdiction. I'm hankering for the Impact, full auto, but I would not be able to carry it here in Oregon. The Momentum can be carried in Oregon IMHO. It could not have come sharper or pointier. There is some side-to-side blade movement in the open position unlike the earlier Tempest but it doesn't worry me.

The Momentum's pivot tool might look something like this #10 which is too small and has squared nubs vs rounded female indents in the pivot calling for rounded nubs on the tool. Is the correct tool to be found at Sears or is the tool Buck only I wonder... Somebody knows. Anyway, I'd like to tighten the pivot screw to see if I can overcome the slight blade wobble.

Apex seems like a complicated 424 Bucklite. It outweighs the 424: 1.65 ounces vs 1.28 ounces. The frame lock is a one-hander for me. The biner has strong and positive gate action. Heck, the knife is so small you could even use it as a zipper pull! With screw construction you can take the Apex apart unlike the 424. The carbon fiber looks like some kind of optical illusion as it shimmers. There is gimping for your thumb on the back of the blade and you can get quite a grip on the handle because the carbon fiber is cut away over the frame lock bar which cannot over-travel due to the pivot blocking it during lock release. This gem locks up tighter than a snare drum. It came surgically sharp with a perfect point. Such wonderful precision on a very small scale. The pocket clip is so small and slender that a shirt pocket might be its best host as a pants pocket might prove to be too thick to accommodate the clip. The pocket clip certainly doesn't get in the way of handling the knife.

ITE that is a great knife, leave it to Leroy. Mark I love the grey 110 and Oregon I see you are still wearing the watch. With that same theme it just so happens I have a Leroy custom from his days in the custom shop. A single blade 317 with sambar stag. Leroy said when the knives came in with broken secondary blades they would turn them into single blades. This is about half the weight of the two bladed and has been in the pocket some.

This is the first my Buck knife.
I bought it in 2009 in a BassPro shop near Las Vegas.
Since the Buck 110 Folding Hunter has become my main EDC knife.
Folding Hunter 110 is always on my belt and it always has a job.

Thank you Oregon (Steve) for the great pictures and the review on a couple of new knives Buck is just now coming out with.

And thank you all for sharing some pictures of your Buck Knives as well as a big thank you to Armand for your dedication to the SPS.

Here is another new Buck knife to hit the market. The new Matt Would Go 245 designed by a Navy Seal that was lost at sea. His father and Buck knives got together to put into production a knife that Matt designed. The overall length of the knife is just over 9" is made of 5160 black powder coated steel and feels great in the hand.

My only buck. A 501 that I rescaled in ebony. I usually carry this one with me every day.
Awesome pictures so far, keep them coming!

Here I have a Buck 110 from the old custom shop. Made in 1987 it has ivory Buckarta scales with a dragon scrimshaw and mirror polished blade of 425-M.

The COA does not mention the scrimshaw so I believe it to be done afterwords by whom I do not know. But still a cool knife.

Nothing fancy. Just some 1 of 500 437s. Looks like time has pushed these guys north of their 90 dollar MSRP. I know there was an orange but not sure about any other available colors.

Another Greatest Show of Buck Knives, for my donation today I have a no date mark 120 with a Buck custom sheath. Years ago when I got this off the bay it wasn't priced what it would get today. A great knife and an almost one of a kind sheath.

Great show today!! Really cool stuff. Love those Leroy Customs. Just got one in the mail this week!!

James, I'm starting to wonder if people in the late 80's ordered Custom Shop Ivory Buckarta knives specifically to get them scrimshawed once they received them???? What a cool 110!! Great find, among a few others lately,

Back to the Leroy Custom I received in the Mail, Late 80's 925 Skinner with Fisk scrimshaw of Indian Chief. I did not receive the toughest or most manly looking Indian Chief, but I am quite happy with the way this one is put together!!! Pictured next to another Leroy Custom from the 80's, a 935 swept point skinner, both with prehistoric mammoth/mastodon ivory handles. I will be sure to go into a bit more depth on these on the Stag and Ivory thread down the line...!!:D:thumbup::D:thumbup::D:thumbup::D:thumbup::D:D:D:thumbup:

Cool to see the different Leroy maker's stamps:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

The tang on the 935 is a bit thicker than the 925, but both Big Bad Bucks!!!!!:thumbup::thumbup:

D:D

A lot of great Character in these Slabs!!!:thumbup::thumbup:

And a Few Buck Models biggest to small all with Custom Prehistoric Ivory Handles
