Hello and welcome to the Sunday Picture Show. Share your Buck knives with others by posting pictures of them here. New or old, plain or custom, user or safe queen, one or a collection, we love to see them all. This weekly tradition was started in 2010 by ItsTooEarly (Armand Hernandez) and Oregon (Steve Dunn). Help keep the tradition alive. Feel free to click that 'LIKE' but lets not let it replace discussing and complimenting each others knives. Enjoy the show. DeSotoSky (Roger Yost)
On this Day August 20th, 1852
At 2 a.m. on Lake Erie, the passenger steamer Atlantic is rammed by the Ogdensburg.

The Atlantic, launched in 1849, ran passenger service down the length of lake Erie between Buffalo and Detroit. At 267' and a capacity of 300 passengers she was a large ship for the time. Leaving Buffalo with a full passenger compliment she stoped in Erie PA and picked up even more. It is estimated the Atlantic was overloaded and carrying 500-600, the clerk did not keep an accurate count. The Odgenburg traveling the opposite direction was carrying a load of wheat. The Odgenburg saw the Atlantic and figured they would pass well in front but the Atlantic changed course causing the Odgenburg to slice right into the side. Contributing was the Odgenburg's steam whistle was broke so signal could not be given. Loss of life estimated 250-300. There was not a passenger list and most of the passengers were transient immigrants. The Atlantic lies in 150' on the Canadian side of the lake. Canada has installed monitors to protect the wreck. As usual, the Wiki article is an interesting read with some squabbling over salvage of the safe.
Buck 110 with gold etched rear paddle wheeler steam boat c.1990. This knife is documented on the 1991 Special Projects list. Serial number engraved to 1,000, the list records 550 actual production. This is a nice package with an Oak box and a faux marble lid with matching etch. There were 7 knives in this series with the marble lids from 1989 to 1991. The other etched images were Ducks. Geese, Pheasants Turkeys, Deer, and a steam locomotive. (edit, make that 8, add "Ghost Rider" check out posts #5 & #12) The last gold etch knife Aurum made for Buck was the Chuck Buck 103 Skinner in 1989. Although Aurum discontinued etching services they did help Buck set up the same process so this knife would have been gold etched by Buck in house.
