Hello and welcome to the Sunday Picture Show. Share your Buck knives with others by posting pictures of them here. New or old, plain or custom, user or safe queen, one or a collection, we love to see them all. This weekly tradition was started in 2010 by ItsTooEarly (Armand Hernandez) and Oregon (Steve Dunn). Help keep the tradition alive. Feel free to click that 'LIKE' but lets not let it replace discussing and complimenting each others knives. DeSotoSky (Roger Yost)

February 18th (1930) is Cow Milked While Flying in an Airplane Day
is celebrated annually on February 18 to commemorate the day a cow named Nellie Jay, which later became Elm Farm Ollie, became the first cow to be flown and milked in an airplane. Ollie’s milk was carefully bottled and sealed into paper cartons which were dropped from the airplane as it flew over St. Louis. Contrary to the Ripleys's cartoon, it was the milk and not the cow that was parachuted. Just go ahead and read the links, trust me, it's a fun one.

We've been treated to an early Buck Bowie in another thread today.
Here is a model 911 3/4 D-Guard Bowie from the Custom shop.
It's called the 3/4 because at 12" it is 3/4ths the size of the 16" Confederate D-Guard Bowie. Compare to the 120 below.

Here is a picture of an unfinished 16" model 901 D-Guard Bowie I failed to come to a deal on years ago.

A few weeks ago I took my wife to Lake Mattamuskeet, she had never seen the waterfowl that winter over at the lake. We saw several species of ducks, Canada geese, and Tundra swan. I used to hunt there but it has been many years (30 or so). We visited the old pumping station (over a hundred years old) which was a lodge in the 30’s and 40’s - I know my Granddad stayed there to waterfowl hunt in the 30’s. It is slowly being renovated and preserved. OH

Did they burn these?
The ebony scales on the 2 pin? I think what you're seeing is the wear that was present before the spa treatment that is now more apparent after polishing.

Those came out great I have one there now myself
Thank You Pete. I am sure you will be pleased with the results. It's a bit like a CKS order in that you never know exactly what they will look like till in your hand.

So, it seems that they had some name/gender difficulty even back in the 30s. 😁

Thanks for all you do here on the forum Roger. Thanks also to all who post photos and comment.

I like big Buck bowies, they are difficult to find without an etched blade. From what I have seen the 905 and the 903, 903 pictured below with a 120 for size comparison are the most prevalent to find with a naked blade.
