Hello and welcome to the Sunday Picture Show. Share your Buck knives with others by posting pictures of them here. New or old, plain or custom, user or safe queen, one or a collection, we love to see them all. This weekly tradition was started in 2010 by ItsTooEarly (Armand Hernandez) and Oregon (Steve Dunn). Help keep the tradition alive. Feel free to click that 'LIKE' but lets not let it replace discussing and complimenting each others knives. Above all, enjoy the show. DeSotoSky (Roger Yost)

On This Day, January 11th, 1794, U.S. Marshal Robert Forsyth is the first federal law enforcement officer to die in the line of duty.
Robert Forsyth was one of our nation's original 13 U.S. Marshals and was killed in Augusta, Georgia, trying to serve court papers.
.

As of 2025, there are 94 presidentially appointed U.S. Marshals, one for each federal judicial district, overseeing 94 district offices. Supporting these positions are approximately 3,892 Deputy U.S. Marshals and criminal investigators who handle daily, nationwide operations. Over 280 U.S. Marshals, Deputy U.S. Marshals, Special Deputy U.S. Marshals, and Marshals employees have been killed in the line of duty since the first federal law enforcement officer death in 1794.

The Buck model 111 is the obvious choice for this weeks SPS. Buck has recycled the model number 3 times.. The first was a fixed blade Skinner from the late 40's, early 50's. A model I do not have in my collection to share. Jumping forward we find the 111 Classic as new in the 1982 catalog. Faux engraved aluminum scales are actually coined (stamped). A 110 sized blade and was provided with an attractive tooled leather sheath. The example shown below I believe to be a Ducks Unlimited Banquet knife. Note the 1981 date. I acquired this one without the sheath.

The third iteration of the model 111 is a sibling to the 110 with curved bolsters. This Wild Bill Cody Elk Bare Head limited edition dates to 2005 and was a release of 250. I can't recall the source so jump in and correct me if I've got the story wrong. WalMart carries the 110 so that kinda ruins the market for other retailers. The 111 was an attempt for a cosmetically different "upgrade" for others to retail but I don't think it really caught on in that way. It has been used for several special projects and LE's. I don't think the 111 is out there in great numbers.

Thanks Roger for doing the Sunday Picture Show and for the History lesson. This Model 186 has a lanyard loop made by MT_Pokt. The loss prevention, push pin lanyard attaches to the belt, as does the knife. The after market feather Damascus blade was made by Grand Leavitt.

Thank you, Roger for hosting another the Sunday Picture Show. And as always for the history lesson. I don’t have a 111. These sure are fun to see.

I pulled my Brian Hugh custom 112 and went for a nice walk yesterday. IMG_6747.jpeg
