Hello and welcome to the Sunday Picture Show. Share your Buck knives with others by posting pictures of them here. New or old, plain or custom, user or safe queen, one or a collection, we love to see them all. This weekly tradition was started in 2010 by ItsTooEarly (Armand Hernandez) and Oregon (Steve Dunn). Help keep the tradition alive. Feel free to click that 'LIKE' but lets not let it replace discussing and complimenting each others knives. DeSotoSky (Roger Yost)

On this Day, January 12th, 1962. Operation Chopper
Operation Chopper was the first American combat mission in the Vietnam War. Our involvement started in late 1961 when the US Army arrived in Saigon with 32 Shawnee H-21 Helicopters and 400 support personnel. During this first operation the helicopters were used to transport 1,000 South Vietnamese Parartoopers to a Viet Cong stronghold east of Saigon. Estimated strength of the VC was 50 and 6 were killed. (kinda lopisided).

Read this for the best overview of what was going on at the time.

2 minute YouTube video, horrible music background.

Of course it is going to be a 112 Ranger for the January 12th show. Searched the cabinets for a 112 I do not think I've shown before.
This one is called Buck Rattler, was a project for Smoky Mountain and is documented on the 1984 Special Projects list. 1 of 300. A nice stag handle on a brass frame and a 4-dot blade. Aurum gold etch on the front and a black etch on the rear. Not as many gold etched 112's as 110's. Just a heads up, next weeks show falls on January 19th.

Thanks for the SPS, and to all who contribute. I never made it over there until 1967, and the Shawnees were gone. I was in the Marines & we still had a bunch of Sikorski H-34's, before all were finally replaced by the Huey.

There's been a 112 on my belt almost every day for about a year now. The blade, the heft, and the chunky handle, all just seem to fit my needs. I don't baby them, but when things are going to be really muddy & sloppy, this Slim Select replaces the classic 112.

I gifted a young man in Oregon who is 13 and is taking an outdoor nature class a small Pursuit Pro folder. Thought it would hold up well in their climate. In return he made me a dragon on his 3-D printer. Thought it was very nice of him!

For my Sunday Picture Show here is a Buck 212 with a burgundy handle in D2 steel. Haven’t used it much but it’s a handy size knife.

Some great photos this morning of some beautiful Bucks!
