Hello and welcome to the Sunday Picture Show. Share your Buck knives with others by posting pictures of them here. New or old, plain or custom, user or safe queen, one or a collection, we love to see them all. This weekly tradition was started in 2010 by ItsTooEarly (Armand Hernandez) and Oregon (Steve Dunn). Help keep the tradition alive. Feel free to click that 'LIKE' but lets not let it replace discussing and complimenting each others knives. DeSotoSky (Roger Yost)

July 13th thru 16th, 1863 - The New York City Draft Riots
The New York Draft Riots occurred in July 1863, when the anger of working-class New Yorkers over a new federal draft law during the Civil War sparked five days of some of the bloodiest and most destructive rioting in U.S. history. Hundreds of people were killed, many more seriously injured, and Black New Yorkers were often the target of the rioters’ violence. History.com

Could not find a reference in the Special Projects List so do not know if it was a special factory order for a retailer.
If anyone knows, please share.

Happy SPS

Back, ah jeez it must be 25+ years ago now, I was doing some work in Joplin, MO. When returning to home base in Jefferson City, I would usually stop at Sheperd Hills in Lebanon. They always had nice clean restrooms :) ...and a lot of Buck and Case knives :D

So, I'm doing a quick pass by the Case and Buck displays on my way to the restroom and I see a display of Buck 470s marked $9.95 😲 A few feet farther down I see an identical knife marked $29.95 🤔

To the nice lady behind the counter:

"What's the difference between the ten dollar Buck 470 and the thirty dollar Buck 470?"
"That's the old model. It comes with a plastic sheath. the new model comes with a nylon sheath." 😲
I bought two of the ten dollar ones and gave one to my good friend, Ralph :D

I love the users as well as the safe queens. They’re all pretty in my eyes. 👍

These two, a 301 SFO and the Buck 120 are the only two stag handled Buck Knives that I own (or that I can think of).

Wonderful 120, OH. 😍

Thank you Roger for the History lesson and doing the Sunday Picture Show. The race and class systems prevalent in 1864 surely contributed to the draft riots. Thank God that we’ve corrected all those disparities. I couldn’t help but notice the similarity between a sandwich spreader and a buffalo skinner. I wonder if buffalo hunters had access to peanut butter and sliced bread.IMG_7750.jpeg
