Hello and welcome to the Sunday Picture Show. Share your Buck knives with others by posting pictures of them here. New or old, plain or custom, user or safe queen, one or a collection, we love to see them all. This weekly tradition was started in 2010 by ItsTooEarly (Armand Hernandez) and Oregon (Steve Dunn). Help keep the tradition alive. Feel free to click that 'LIKE' but lets not let it replace discussing and complimenting each others knives. Above all, enjoy the show. DeSotoSky (Roger Yost)
The Cadets at New Market.

This day in history. The American Civil War Battle of New Market was fought on May 15, 1864, in Virginia.
A smaller Confederate army forced the Union army out of the Shenandoah Valley. The Union under Franz Sigel with a strength of 6,275 had 96 killed, 520 wounded. The Confereracy under John Breckinridge with a strength of 4,087 had 43 killed, 474 wounded, Of particular note was that student cadets from the Virginia Military Institute (VMI) took part in the battle. According to Wikipedia, The battle is primarily remembered today for being the only time in American history a school's student body was used as an organized combat unit. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_New_Market
In 1992 Buck did a series of 7 different Civil War battle scenes. It was a very limited issue of only 100 each. A special series, not only for the limited number but also because they were on the 531 BuckLock. . These gold etches would have been by Buck. After the demise of Aurum, Buck was assisted in settting up the same process in house. The last gold etches that were done for Buck by Aurum was the Chuck Buck 103 Skinner in 1989. These Civil War knives are documented in the November 1992 BCCI newsletter. In there is states that they were "Produced for Gordon McCoy, P.O. Box 156, Cloverdale VA".
