Hello and welcome to the Sunday Picture Show. Share your Buck knives with others by posting pictures of them here. New or old, plain or custom, user or safe queen, one or a collection, we love to see them all. This weekly tradition was started in 2010 by ItsTooEarly (Armand Hernandez) and Oregon (Steve Dunn). Help keep the tradition alive. Feel free to click that 'LIKE' but lets not let it replace discussing and complimenting each others knives. DeSotoSky (Roger Yost)

On This Day, October 6th, 1866. Brothers John and Simeon Reno staged what is generally believed to be the first [peacetime] train robbery in American history. Their take was $13,000 from an Ohio and Mississippi railroad train in Jackson County, Indiana. Jesse James first train robbery was not until 1873 although he was up to alot of other mischief before that. I covered this in a previous show back on July 21st of this year. The Reno gang was formed by four brothers of the Reno family of Seymour Indiana, Frank, John, Simeon, and William. Another brother, Clinton “Clint” Reno, never joined the gang and was often called “Honest Clint” despite being hauled into court for assault and running a gambling den. The Reno brothers were notorious as early as the 1850's around the Seymour area robbing travellers, stealing horses, and arson but later expanded their activities in the 1860's to include Bounty-Jumping during the Civil War, murder, counterfeiting, robbery, and train robbery. No honor among thieves, in September 1867 the Renos robbed another gang who had just robbed the Ohio & Mississippi train, leaving them to take the rap for the crime while the Renos stole away with the booty. On May 22, 1868, the gang pulled off their greatest heist, robbing the Adams Express Company train, getting away with about $96,000. Ultimately between July and December 1868, 3 of the Reno brothers and 7 other gang members were lynched by vigilantes who forcibly removed them from custody. I could not find a listing of all their crimes and saw figures of estimated $500K stolen. It appears most of the loot has never been accounted for.
In Popular Culture
*** Love Me Tender is a 1956 American musical Western. lt was Elvis Presley's acting debut playing the part of Clint Reno. The film was originally to be titled The Reno Brothers but was changed when Presley's new single Love Me Tender topped the charts passing 1 million copies. As a newcomer to acting, this film was the only time Presley did not receive top billing.
*** Rage at Dawn is a 1955 Hollywood film based on the Reno brothers' story. It stars Randolph Scott as undercover detective James Barlow. Forrest Tucker played Frank Reno.
Here is a good read.
