Hello and welcome to the Sunday Picture Show. Share your Buck knives with others by posting pictures of them here. New or old, plain or custom, user or safe queen, one or a collection, we love to see them all. This weekly tradition was started in 2010 by ItsTooEarly (Armand Hernandez) and Oregon (Steve Dunn). Help keep the tradition alive. Feel free to click that 'LIKE' but lets not let it replace discussing and complimenting each others knives. DeSotoSky (Roger Yost)

September 7th - 11th, 1857. The Mountain Meadow Massacre.

The 1857 mass murder of at 120-140 members of the Baker–Fancher wagon train near Cedar City in Southern Utah by Mormon Territorial Militia and Paiute allies.

The Mountain Meadow Massacre explained (5:57)

The Mountain Meadows Massacre is depicted in the Netflix miniseries American Primeval, which was released in January 2025.

BUCK made 3 commemorative knives for the 100th anniversary of the Statue of Liberty 1886-1986. The 826 (shown here) was based on the 525 Gent with an acrylic overlay. The other 2 knives were the pewter 825 and an Aurum etched 500. The 500 and 826 are shown in the 1986 catalog but not the 825. There are 2 variations of the original acrylic 826, with and without gold etch, 15,000 each for a total of 30,000. The inlaid coin is made of materials from the Statue (taken during restoration). There must have a good number of over runs because in addition to the original Liberty 826 I have 3 variations with a triangular "Edge for Life" logo coin but without the acrylic overlay. One is plain, coin only, the second displays the original 100 year banner gold etch on the blade. The third is a BCCI Collectors edition and came in a black 2pc LE box but no label. I have searched the Special Projects lists for these, especially the BCCI edition with no luck. The 826 blade has no date code but the Triangular Edge for Life Logo was used from about 1997 to 2001. If anyone can date the BCCI version I would love to know. I have not searched the newsletters yet.

Thanks for the SPS Roger. I hope everyone's having a great weekend.
Some more ancient history- On September 7, 1966, at the ripe old age of 17, I stepped off the bus at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, SC, to begin my four year enlistment.

Good Sunday morning, all! I own an original Statue of Liberty 826. I didn't know (or maybe I forgot) that the coin was made of material from the statue. Come to think of it, I learn something new from every SPS.

Thanks to Roger for hosting, and to everyone else who adds to this awesome show!

A few days ago, someone resurrected an almost 20 year old thread about the 137 SteelMaster. That made me think of the Model 317. When Buck introduced the first 317s in 1972, they didn't have a box for it, but they had plenty of boxes for the 137. For the first 317s a gold foil sticker was placed on the 137 boxes. I'll have to dig a box out for a photo, but this is the first of the 317s.
