HIYOOO! Thanks to HeathH HeathH , I received a box in the mail whose weight was only surpassed by the density of wonderful gifts inside! A special shout out to mrknife mrknife , and the super fantastic participants who've been extraordinarily generous in their handling of said heavy and dense box. I had a long, hot, stressful day in the Louisiana sun, so I apologize if this is a bit rushed. I will let this run until August 9 before a random number generator spits out our next lucky recipient.

Here are the rules from mrknife's original posting:

Doing another GAW but this one is a little different. I'd sort of like this to be more of a pass around/pay it forward.

Im going to put all of these in a box and ship to one winner. They may not like all the knives in there or they may. If they do, the giveaway ends there I suppose. But if they don't, I hope they swap the knife they want for a knife or knives they have in their collection that they'd like to pass on to some one else who may find it more enjoyable via a similar giveaway. It'll be on an honor system and I have faith in all of you It's a variety pack of knives in different costs, so I'm sure everyone will get something they enjoy and want to give a new home.

In order to be considered, please fulfill any of these conditions:
1. be a known member of the Porch (at least a decent amount of meaningful contribution via content or conversation)
2. have donated to the St.Judes Charities/or Bob (hang in there buddy, hope you are doing ok!)
3. have done any sort of giveaway

I'm going to amend in here that entrants need to be active on The Porch. We've had some instances in which entrants who were chosen were no longer around. We're all hobbyists around here, and as such, we understand that life gets in the way sometimes. I'm not going to remove anyone from the list, but until they are available to participate on the porch regularly, they will not be eligible for the box.

Just say "I'm in" to be added to the list.

*If you want to tell us all which knives you're pining for and what you'd toss in the box as a replacement then have at it. It's a good way to keep the thread going and garner more interest.*

The current list of entrants is:

1. BenHarris
2. @RobertJ1 (Inactive)

As you can see, we need some more Porch members to jump in on this shindig!

Get on to the good stuff!

Okay, so as mentioned, long day at work. So long that I forgot to unpack the box with the good camera in a location with decent light. Here's how things looked approx. 5 minutes after walking in the door:

LOOGIT ALL THAT STEEL.

Really a fantastic variety to play with and experience before making decisions. But a decision must be made! As a small knife guy, there really are some big honkin' knives in here.

I chose the Buck Toothpick, the super lovely ornate Colt, and the leather belt sheath.

Sounds greedy, I know. I'm still contemplating putting one of them back or adding something else.

Well, I hope to rectify that with not one but TWO Case Peanuts. I've added to the box a fantastic 2012 Pocket Worn Red Bone in Tru Sharp, and a Chestnut CV that I purchased from @KBA in a Benefit to Bob sale. Two lovely, lovely knives to pick from.

However, as a (virtual) card carrying member of The Cult of The Peanut, I simply cannot throw two Case Peanuts into a box without the prerequisite materials to join The Cult! That's right, tucked inside each Case box is a P38 Can Opener and a Craftsman 4-in-1 Screwdriver. Instantly become a member of The Cult!

So, let's go Porch members. Throw your name in the mix and see if you'll be the next to experience the wonders of leg-lengths of steel! You've got TWO WEEKS, folks. Thank you to everyone who has been involved (especially mrknife mrknife for starting this magical super fantastic fun time) and everyone who will be involved in the future!

All the best.

That was a quick turnaround! It's amazing that it has reached 10 rounds and is still going strong:thumbsup: And that is not greedy at all- especially with what you added!!!

Right had us going there for a little, but things are back on track!

I still consider myself a new guy here on the Porch, but I like to think that I am somewhat of a contributing member. This is, after all, one of my favorite places on the Internet.

I've always thought this to be a fun sort of game/giveaway but I wanted to get some more time under my belt before attempting to throw my name in the hat. At this point, I do believe I meet at least a couple of the requirements.

So with that said, I would like to be considered for entry in this pass around. If not, it is completely understandable. I'll still enjoy watching the thread every time it pops up. It is fun to see everyone's unique tastes and interests come into play.

Pàdruig, I would definitely consider you to be both active and contributing to The Porch. That gets you spot #35! Good luck!

Way to go Shawn. As a recent winner I'm not in but I'm glad to see the interest still percolating for this GAW started by mrknife (Jack). I'm also glad to see a few of my recent additions worthy enough to be chosen already.

Your name is one I see frequently!

Here's proof you are a contributing member Dylan the Opinel and custom sheath you made that I was fortunate enough to win in your GAW. Your posting areas shows the Porch as #1 place you post.

IMO you are a regular my friend and the type of member we really like to have here on the Porch.

I concur with Randy!

Wow cool! I would love to get in on this. I really dont have anything in particular that I am looking for, but I always like adding new types of hardwoods to my collection.

Woohoo! Thanks for getting this up so quickly Shawn - you picked two really nice ones there. That G-10 Buck was a neat knife!

Great contributions as well, the CSK (Carl Survival Kit) is hard to beat!

Shawn, congrats on winning the last round, and kudos for getting the next round up and running so fast!!:cool::cool::thumbsup:
Those are some nice choices you made as your "prize", and not unexpected choices for you! ;) (Maybe we should get some kind of pool going about what each new winner will choose from "The Box".) The additions you made to the pool are unbelievable!! IMHO, a Case chestnut jigged bone CV peanut is the best peanut out there, and that pocket-worn red bone Tru-Sharp is a tasty peanut, too. The P-38 and the Sears 4-way are just icing on the cake!:cool::thumbsup: (I'm glad I have my Sears 4-way, because my local Sears closed down earlier this year. :( Dang it, I always liked Sears!)

(Randy, I remember Dylan's Opinel and sheath GAW, but I don't remember ever seeing the finished personalized sheath. That's fantastic!!:thumbsup:)

Not an entry, of course, since I was an early round winner. :)

jprime84 jprime84 , I added you while I was at work, but I completely biffed on responding to you. Sorry about that! You are #36. Good luck!

GT, that's a bummer about your local Sears shutting down. I'm curious to know how ours are still open. When I went to pick up the 4-in-1 screwdrivers, the cashiers in the Tool Department were relaxing on the outdoor furniture because there were no customers at all in the store. This is at an anchor store for a busy shopping mall no less!

C'mon, folks! Where are our Porch regulars?

I'm still around though I must admit I've done a lot more reading than posting in the Porch lately. I had a mishap with my nice phone I used to post and the new one gives me trouble with unresponsiveness. Either way the generosity here continues to amaze me.

Nice to see this GAW-around still going around. :D Perhaps in the current list, you could put an "@" before the name of inactive entrants, and see if they check in. Example:

Hey, Wurrwulf Wurrwulf , do all the knives still fit in a USPS medium priority box?

Good idea, r8shell r8shell ! The participants on the inactive list have been tagged for response. Hopefully, some of them will check in here to clarify if they are still in.

As for the box being used, all I've got to say is that I wouldn't want to play Tetris against any of our previous winners because ALL of the knives pictured fit into a USPS SMALL Flat Rate Box!

:D:D:thumbsup::thumbsup:

(Shawn, I appreciate your condolences about the demise of my local Sears. Where am I gonna buy a car battery?? I don't think I've ever used anything but a DieHard as a replacement battery in any of my vehicles in almost 50 years of driving! On the other hand, my wife once bought me a set of "Sheffield" knives for Christmas, and I think they came from Sears; they're quite low quality.)

Hey, Randy, thanks for the link! Despite the fact that it's late 2017, the internet is still not the first thing that springs to MY mind when it comes to commerce!
(How ARE they going to fit that big car battery through my letter-sized mail slot if I order online???;))
