Hey guys and gals, I just submitted my application for the next Survivor show. This time it will be in the Australian outback! Filming begins on Oct. 20.

Well, if I make it I'm wondering which of my H.I. Khukuris will accompany me in the brush. At this moment I'm leaning towards my 20" Chiruwa Sirupati made by Kumar.

So, if you were going to be on the show, what Khukuri will you bring?

I've got a WWII by the mystery kami that is
simply wonderful . I took it camping this weekend (moterhome campground , not realy roughing it ) and everyone was amazed . They all had small axes , and machettes and still couldn't acomplish everything that I did with one 16.5 inch masterpeice . If stranded in the bush this is the blade that I'd hope to have . It's big enough to do heavy chopping with . It's small enough that I can choke up on it to do delicate work , and it's still sharper than any axe or machette that I have . I think those mystery Kamis should be called the mystic kamis , because there is a little magic in the blade .

I'd likely take my Sher 18" AK as it is the best chopper IMO, and chopping is what I expect I would be using it for mostly. But if in a jungle environment where my one and only khuk would have to pull double duty as a machete, then I'd take my 20" Village Chiruwa Sirupati. It's super heavy duty for a Siru.

You've got it all turned around. It's which if any you can leave home. Leaving one of ten's a noble effort.

Well, for the show, I think you are limited to the amount of stuff you can bring. The contestants on the show right now didn't bring too much stuff(clothing, hygene supplies). The Survivor show is really hot in the S.F. Bay Area, and so I figure more applications would be turned in. At this present time, they contestants are on a tropical island, but for the future show Survivor 2, this will be in Australia's outback for 39 days. The winner wins $ 1 million bucks!

BA.

It is going to be Pauji my 18" WW II Model which is chosen by most of HI Forumites as The Most Versatile Khukuri!

NEPAL HO!

Mohd, I would have to agree, but I would choose a wooden handled Gelbu Special as the one knife I would bring. Second choice would be a Bhudhuni.

hhhhmmmmmm... Austrailian outback.... No thick vegetation, so that means I wouldn't need the sirupati. There isn't a whole lot in the outback except for snakes... the worlds' ten most venomous all in one place. I think my 15" Ak would go. Small yet versitile.

AHhhh. I just called a 15" knife small. This fourum has warped forever, what I will call a "big" knife.

Life is short, art endures.

My 'survivor' days are long gone, but if I were there as part of the production crew (air conditioned trailers, lots of Foster's Lager on ice) I'd want a 12" Siru. No, I don't have one (yet...HIKV is raging) but this would be an ideal size to keep the rest of the crew out of my beer...

If they let you carry a khukuri in the out back, there will be no need for heavy chopping, light to medium is all you will run in to .You will be digging more than anything else so keep it light you can make a digging stick.
I have never seen the show but every body here talks about it all the time. From what I hear, the greatest deterent to winning are your fellow tribesmen,if you want to win use the khukuri on them right away then go it alone you'll have a better chance.

Ray makes a very important point, you are voted out. From the descriptions of the outback, a 16.5" WWII would do nicely.

Failing Ray's suggestion inform your fellow tribe that you know where they live.

I doubt that they will pick me, but at least I put in an entry form. If I did get in then that would be something. If I had a feeling that I was going to be voted off, then I might just run into the outback and do my own Blair Witch Project on the remaining contestants! I bet if they can't catch me and they continue to film, the ratings will go through the roof. Imagine each contestant disappearing one by one (no harm would come to them)! That would be interesting to see.

Gelbu special (I haven't received my 25" Kobra yet, so that could change). Light enough to take most anywhere, long enough for real reach when needed and thick enough to take serious abuse. Combined with the optional Spyderco Wegner karda and Profile chakma, it makes an unbeatable utility tool.

Based on Cougar's description I revise my suggestion. The khukuri you should take is the "khukuri rum" in Mega Salyan size.
