Scott made this "Swamp Fox" hunter to sell, then decided to use it as a journeyman test knife. Due to some shinkage issues with the stabilized wood however, we aborted both options. The stabilized wood pulled away from the tang slightly at the base making it unusable as a journeyman knife, but after some time in the hot box and an epoxy repair, it was reborn as a fine and very functional blade. This Swamp Fox is now the property of Scott's father, and we are on the look-out for a different stabilized wood supplier. If anyone has suggestions, we'd love to hear them. I haven't included a picture of the repair, but will try to take one if anyone is interested (and if I can get the knife back for a photo session). The repair is almost invisible, but not quite and hopefully it will show up in a photo.
