The first Benchmade-Ball collaboration knife will be the new Harley-Davidson® 13450 T-Rod™. This knife is a push button, two-position knife that can be either a fixed blade or a dagger. Featuring a modified clip point 440C stainless steel blade and aluminum handles, this knife also includes a black leather sheath. This is my first collaboration with a production co. but not my last. I came up with this idea around 2 yrs ago and drew it up but forgot about it until Aug of 2010 when I found the drawing again.Once I built the prototype I felt like someone would want this idea. There are a few changes from the proto but the shape is very true.I wanted the push button lock so it was added. They came up with the texturing which feels great in hand.I will also be making custom versions of this UNIQUE knife. The handbuilt proto was not completely finished in the pics. Here are some pics of the proto and the Benchmade version.THANKS

Good luck to you and Benchmade with this project. That is a very nice knife!

OK, so I like push daggers. :)

Hey that's neat. So I guess it carries as a fixed in the sheath. Does it draw into the push configuration from the sheath?

That's pretty cool, and yours is a custom, but the design is NOT unique. I have a Parker knife from the 1980's, that is a sheath knife that folds into a push dagger.

When the button release is pushed the blade pivots freely with a slight flick in either position and can be carried in either configuration in the sheath.

Hello Peter, could you post a pic of this knife as I have never seen one before and curious how it locks into the 2 positions.THANKS

Thanks for showing me other versions of this knife style but I'm still saying unique because no other I've seen are button lock or can be operated with one hand.:D Also the blade design is more versatile for a wider range of uses.Sorry to ramble but I am proud of this knife.:D

Butch - When it is in the straight position, it looks just like a typical "lockback" knife with the release at the back. When pressing the release bar to put it in a "push dagger" position, the blade pivot is in the middle of the handle and it locks in a 90 degree position making a "push dagger".

I thought you were saying a knife that converts from straight to push dagger was unique. Your "push button" release certainly may be unique.

I don't have pictures to post, but if you want to see some, let me know and i'll take some. It is NOT a custom knife, and it was Jim Parker, some years ago, that told me the timeframe it was made.
