No but there will be a all black tactical version down the road. It will cost more of course.

Okay, I loved the proto but now that I know I can't get a polished or satin blade, I'm a tad upset.

I hate black and stonewash and I hear only bad about bead blasting.

Will a satin blade ever be offered?

I rarely resort to profanity, but that has to be the sweetest piece of balisong ass I've ever seen.

Superb work, Mike. Absolutely superb. I'm drooling.

Eagerly waiting on a schedule (and price).

Will Microtech continue to use the beautiful Devin Thomas Damascus? Will there be a choice of patterns?

Nice page, BTW, placed my order last night. In the spirit of cooperative feedback (and you probably already have this planned), when you get a chance it would be nice to have examples of all these different finishes and combinations coming out pictured on the site. Yeah, I know it's obvious and I'm sure you've thought of it but wanted to mention it anyway.

Along with that, didn't see how the logo/maker's mark was going to be done ... not being into autos I must confess I don't know what factors into when Microtech uses the nifty "Talon" logo instead of the more boring "M" logo. Or, will it have it's own unique logo, maybe a butterfly with talons ...

Just ordered mine!

This is going to be SWEET!

Flip, twirl, toss, catch, slice, OUCH!

Right now the only Tachyon made is the one you see in thepics. As soon as more are made I can put up pics of those.

Not sure on the Damascus source or pattern as yet but I think I may be making a call to Rados on at least one piece

I just placed my order for one for stone wash, plain edge. After I hurriedly finished sending my order, feel relieved a little bit, I looked at the beautiful pix of Tachyon(s?) on the site.
Then, I suddenly found my right index finger tapping the mouse button to buy another... it was a totally unconscious action.

Thanks, Mike, for your quick correction of my order!

Some questions on the Tachyon:

Was the "blood groove" incorporated into the design to strengthen the blade or to give it a unique look?

Will the bead blast finish on the "squarish" (cross-section) handle affect its rotation in your palm?

Will the first production run be identified as such (e.g., "First Production") on the blade and/or handle?

Will they be serial numbered? Dated?

What logo, if any, will it carry?

(Since the blades will be interchangeable, I'm wondering what the plans are for the markings).

Some comments:

The Tachyon is a unique design but somehow its MicroTech heritage appears to be evident. (Please don't ask me how I arrived at this conclusion--I just feel it).

September seems like an eternity away. (Sigh)

Was the "blood groove" incorporated into the design to strengthen the blade or to give it a unique look?

The design of the blade is based on the CFO blade. That is where the blood groove came from and it does give it a "cool" look

It worked fine for me. Chuck flipped it a good bit at the show so maybe he can jump in as he knows a lot more moves than I do.

No. They will be serial numbered but beyond that there will be no special markings other than the prototypes.

Will they be serial numbered? Dated?
Yes, like all Microtechs

What logo, if any, will it carry?
I am not sure as yet but I will be working on that soon.

It has some of the design on the blade from the CFO and the Nemesis style will have Tony written all over it

Hi, My name is Bill, ("HI Bill") and I just took delivery of my first bali earlier this week, a BM42. I just want you guys to know that I'm not like the rest of you. I can quit anytime I want to. I never stop after work just for one or two, and I never miss work because I've been up all night tossing a few. But, just in case I was interested in one of these babies, am I going to get another $80 worth of enjoyment out of it over the BM or am I going to wake up in the morning with the same dry mouth and queazy stomach that I get from the cheap stuff? "What's that darlin? No I'm not lookin at more knifes. I told you I was all done with that. I love you baby, don't leave. Well go ahead, then. Yeah, I'll call you at your mother's. Hey baby, leave the Visa card would you?"

I have a no questions asked 7 day return from the time you receive the knife so I would say get one and judge for yourself

I found it quite flippable (sp?). The edges are rounded a little bit which is nice. It was a little bit more difficult for me to do the finger whips that I like where I rotate the knife as it's held between two fingers, but it wasn't bad at all.

I felt that once we got it tweaked a bit, Tachyon became very smooth. The blade shape is balanced about right, IMHO, for manipulation. There's enough weight forward to give the blade good momentum without being top-heavy and slow.

If you have the option, I'd sure like to request you pass on using the "M" in favor of the "Talon" one or even something using a butterfly instead ... the "M" logo seems more appropriate for a sign out on the street or over the front entrance, but I don't care for it on a knife blade.

While this is, of course, one man's opinion, I suspect I'm in the majority since the beautiful Microtech Damascus blades I've seen pictured have the nifty "Talon" logo instead of the "M" ...

Someone jokingly suggested in a previous thread that you use a logo of the MT talon grabbing the BM butterfly. I'd enjoy seeing that (no offense to BM, I love their products).

The Tachyon has two tang pins to prevent the blade from over ratating past 180 degress and hitting the inner spacers.

I will work with Tony on the design. I have a few idea but "I think it not wise to dis the comp".
