I bought a beautiful Clam Shell Bowie made by Rodrigo Sfreddo from a European collector a few years ago. Imagine my shock and dismay when it arrived with a huge crack in the ivory grip!
The seller and I worked things out. The plan was to have Rodrigo repair it and we agreed to share the cost. Thanks to the Brazilian authorities, it took me nearly 2 years to get the knife to Rodrigo. Once he got the knife, he was kind enough to repair it quickly and not charge me for the work - I did offer to pay for the new grip material because I didn't think it was fair to expect him to eat the cost of the material.

I finally got the knife back recently and I am extremely pleased with the result. I think the knife is even more impressive than the original. I've included some before and after photos. Thanks Rodrigo!

I had a knife crack 15 minutes after I pulled it out of the fed ex box. Something about the change in atmospehere. Or maybe just my bad karma.

That would be a bummer for sure:grumpy:but your right, the replacement ivory is much nicer than before, and the before was pretty nice!Awesome bowie by the way:thumbup:

Hey that's a great story.
Rodrigo displayed exceptional customer service by providing the repair at no cost, and to someone other than the original purchaser. The result, I agree, is much nicer than the original. Well worth the upset.

Good show, Rodrigo!

I've always admired the lines and finish of Sfreddo's knives, and this story is one more good reason to make contact somewhere down the line.

Glad that it worked out in the end...it was long overdue. Although I liked the original handle (of course I selected it together with Rodrigo;))I have to agree that Rodrigo did a great job with the new handle:cool::thumbup:
