The Tenacious may be the first knife that I actually wear out!

I've been carrying the Tenacious with me pretty much everywhere, so it gets used and it gets sharpened.
It came ground back about 3/16" when it was new. I've probably taken another 1/16" off it in the nine months that I've been carrying it.
Lock up is stable at around 60%, so the lock tab is fully engaged. Perfect for me.
The size, feel, weight, blade shape and build quality are great, especially for the price.
I even prefer the coarser jimping on the thumb ramp.
It does get dull though, but I figure it will take a few years to get worn down to the point where I need to replace it.
Maybe by that time the Tenacious 2 will be out with a more wear resistant blade! :)

Sounds like you might need a more wear-resistant steel, that is a lot of sharpening.

I guess I'll have to wait see which happens first, wearing this knife out or a more wear resistant version of the Tenacious becoming available.

If you like the Tenacious, you'd absolutely love the Paramilitary 2 if/when funds allow it. Or to keep that fatter leaf shape, the Domino. And you'll be sharpening a lot less. :) Keep the Tenacious around as a backup in the car or something.

Ha! ;) The Tenacious was a relatively recent purchase, I have a whole slew of other Spydercos but they just don't get the pocket time.
I'm not a fan of the choils (although I own quite a few knives with them) which is what drew me to the Resilience first, but it was a bit too large and the Tenacious hits the spot for me.
So yes, if something with a higher vanadium content was available in the Tenacious I'd be pretty happy.

I am the new owner of a Tenacious. Ive had it for almost a month now. I bought it after sharpeniing a friends. To me it is what the Rat1 wanted to be. Since owning it I have yet to carry any other folder. For the time being it has kicked the ZT566 out of my pocket. I keep thinking Ill start carrying the ZT at work again and use the Tenacious as I intended, as a beater. But every morning since getting it I reach for the Tenacious. I now have my sights set on a Native 5. The only thing I wonder now is can the Native kick the Tenacious outa my pocket. The only thing I would change about it it have it made in the U.S.

I got a new Native 5 lightweight last week and it removed the tenacious from my pocket. Better steel, slightly lighter... It's a great EDC.

thing with steel are usually trades off. yes it doesn't hold an edge like supersteels, but it sharpens almost on its own, it takes an edge without any real effort and it get razor sharp in a pinch. It is superior to many low end steels like 420HC and Spyderco might not want to raise the prices of their entry line with anything more wear resistant. The tenacious is a great value knife, I'd like to see the efforts directed at maintaining an high level of quality control as regards to their Chinese line. Spyderco are just about the best in regards to their price/quality ratio, they've got their formula well configured, of that most would agree no doubt.
