Ok I didn't know what to call it and had it sitting around for a few
but the Thing is done. I finally got around to finishing it. Only took a few years after I ground it because nobody wanted it :p . And it sports a stunning corby birthmark. How come nobody wants the fat ones with the birthmarks?? Anyways, don't let the picture fool you. It's a little slimmer than you'd expect from such a portly offering. Oh yeah it's sitting on some old school shadetree from back in the canvas and basalt fiber days. Kind of like the big hair band days of custom mycarta. I was in to some wild stuff then...

Steel: .178" ELMAX with tapered tang and some distal taper
OAL: 8.5"
CUTTING EDGE: 8.125"
HANDLE: VINTAGE SHADETREE WITH CORBYS/G-Flex

Bwahaha! :D Super flat, wide, and thin blades like that are some of my favorites, especially weird ones with a name like the Thing.

I like it a lot. Would be super handy in the kitchen. Steel type and dimensions?

Thanks Lorien. Specs added to op.

Edit* Corrected thickness.

wow, very cool! I like that Thing!

We need to start making those canvas twists again, I forgot how cool they are.

The Shadetree scales is what sold this puppy fod. I have had a few people ask about making an exact copy and I only have enough material for 1-2 blades so yeah. More please. I'm also itching to get at the other twist patterns you made me.

Very nifty. The blade shape & size seems all kinds of useful to me. The shadetree scales are just fantastic.
