These are some pictures from last night. Another large cat encounter. I walked straight out side without looking and he was sitting in the corner on the wall. I said out loud "Oh.... Hi there..." and it just stared at me then licked its paw. He didn't seem to mind me at all, as proof of him actively hunting right in front of me (which you can tell by his posture he saw something). There's some crazy crap out in the desert (left of my porch).

Didn't want to go inside to get a better camera so I just clicked away with my phone in one hand, knife in the other...

Nope. Never met the fella. He was about 4 feet away, maybe less.

I have seen a bobcat before on my back porch, but the second he saw me he booked it. This one was quite content with me.

Bobcats are good, harmless to humans but great hunters of vermin, rodents and other pests.

Several years ago I was out walking with some friends and we were on top of a mountain on a one lane road. The road was bare rock and sand and we weren't making a lot of noise or talking. We rounded a bend in the road and a Bobcat was sitting on its butt right in the middle. It looked at us and trotted away.

I know two fellows that have had Bobcats jump on them while calling for other critters.

They humped on them!? That'd actually be kind of funny to see. I can't see a bobcat causing too much damage to a person unless really backed into a corner.

Jumped, not humped.

One was a young boy at the time and it attacked from behind while he was attempting to call in a turkey. His Dad actually saw it happen. The boy thought it was the neighbors cat. He only got minor scratches.

The other was my wife's cousin. He and a friend were trying to call coyotes using a rabbit distress call. This time it came head-on, but he didn't see it until it jumped. He received several deep lacerations on his face and ears. His story appeared in one of the outdoor magazines.

In both cases when the cat realized they weren't prey items they broke off and ran.

I have never seen a bobcat but up here we quite often see lynx. That is a great picture being that close.

I totally meant to say jumped... NO idea why i said humped... I wonder where my mind is..... ?

That's pretty cool. What part of the country are you in?

I'm in Arizona. On the outskirts of Scottsdale by McDowell Mountains.

He showed absolutely no fear of me, and no sign of aggression either. He was impartial to me being that close to him. It was actually really bizarre because the only other one I've ever seen, which was on my back porch when I just randomly walked outside, bolted right the hell out of there quickly.
