Got the box yesterday via USPS return address Reno. I was expecting 1 knife the 9" Bliton but there were 2 and a hand written note.
Pic 1 is my son and his early Christmas present from Auntie Yangdu. "The Tiger Killer Knife" This thing is both adorable and also something I wouldn't mind on my hip for a rabbit hunt. The blade is about 5" and the handle is 4 1/4" I'm still guessing whether the handle is bone or some kind of antler with a a horn spacer and brass hardware. It came HI sharp out of the box but I dulled it down until Charlie gets better with his technique. 4 and a half isn't too late to start teaching him knife skills I hope? Mommy knows where the firearms are or I would have started this course work earlier:p
Thank you very much Auntie he'd rather play with his "knife" than eat desert.
2nd Pic is both knives sitting on the Blade of my 20" AK for reference. Yes that is an AK and not a CAK. You see the pins there is a story there but not for this thread.
3rd is just a shot with them in my palm trying to get the Kami marks (last Pic)
4th shows them in their sheaths. The sheath on the Bilton is highly details and falls into the too cute category as well.
5th is the Kami marks Dill I think on both.
The Bilton is adorable but I still don't know if I bought it as a joke a paperweight or I got caught up trying to shark. Its shaving sharp and its new job is open accounts receivables mail at the office. In that size range I prefer my folders but they are worth it for the cute factor alone.

me likey!!! could be a pocket carry if you made a small kydex type sheath for it..

thanks for sharing... my son will be 7 next month, gave him a couple of cheapy folders.. mom isn't at all for it, he got a little cut on his finger playing with his knife without supervision.. I think a dulling is in order..

My older boy and his two cousins all have biltons, my four year old has a kanges kante. We go out chopping in the woods behind the house.

Wow, you have one lucky son.

Its almost never too early to learn knife handling/safety, but it is sometimes hard to convince parents as such. I remember giving my nephew Nick a Boker Subcom when he was 16. It is a folder with all of 1 7/8" of blade. I thought my sister and brother-n-law were gonna skin me with it the way they carried on. I remember sitting down with Nick and talking about safety and legality of knife carry...and crossed my fingers.

Funny now that my nephew is now 21 and didn't kill/maim himself or anyone else w/ the little Subcom it presented a lot less hassle this year when I gave him the 21" Kobra.:D

Both times he said it was was the best gift he'd got that year.

Hmm...I have two girls and the 17 month old seems to really like swinging her little staff, punch the bag and hold the chiruwa handled kuk with dad...man, my wife is gonna skin me.

How cool... that is one I have wanted for a while.

TheLastDaze, my leather working skills are good but I expect them to make a leap between now and next summer. When the itch to work concealX strikes me I'll pester Kiah till he lets me drive down and sweep his floors for a day or 2 learning. A little 120 grit sand paper on the edge dulls it nicely while allowing it to be sharpened later when they are ready, I still haven't figured out how to stab proof the tip.
Gunmonkey & monkeybutt, I had my neighbors 7 year old chopping light branches , well supervised, Saturday night with my 20" AK on a stump. I kept reinforcing that there is a lot of Math, physics and responsibility in "play time". The more responsible you are the more interesting play time gets. I keep telling Charlie the more you listen and I can trust that you will do what I tell you to the more interesting things you get to do with daddy. I have to balance that with the fact that a lot of my hobbies are really neat but they don't suffer inattention or fools lightly. At 4 my son hasn't learned to properly fear&respect things developmentally he just hasn't gotten there yet. I'd rather they learn early from responsible adults then later from their ignorant friends we lose too many children through stupid accidents because their parents are to PC to let them learn the right way:(
Warty hopefully the Kami's have time to dry out and start getting creative for Christmas.

Warty, I don't know how long you have been trying to get a custom done, but the delay may have to do with the troubles they've had with keeping Kamis this year.

Oldschool45: Nice knife. Kind of like an HI impression of a Marbles Ideal, eh?

As for when you get a knife, I remember as a boy, we got our first real knives (often a SAK, or as in my case, a Cub Scout knife) when we were 5. I remember much hand wringing by our mothers, but our fathers just taught us how to use them and how not to use them, and didn't try to protect us from ourselves. Once they figured we knew how to use them, we could carry them unsupervised.

Congratulations to the parents out there that are still teaching their children how to be responsible adults, instead of trying to keep them children their whole lives.
