Do you mean toilet paper test OR my free hanging toilet paper test.

Out of box all my Spyderco Calypsos(large , jr, jr ltwt),
both BF natives,
Spyderco Moran and
Marttiini forged little leuku
passed this test.

I'm ashamed but I must admit that I did this test to Spyderco Chef's knife - it also passed. I tried to manage the fhtpt to it and this was fist step.

all knives have not been in toilet and thus it is mystery if they had passed this test in out of box condition.

Now almost all my knives pass this test.

BUT no knife has ever been close to pass the free hanging toilet paper test. (Nearest was BM 710 after two hours of sharpening and stopping. After it was polished I microserrated it with lansky 600 grit fine stone.)

My CRKT ApacheIII passed

My Buck #301 RB Stockman just passed. Only took two tries and I had to hurry too, didn't want my boss walking in on me again and seeing me doing the same thing I

myself with last week!

After reading the TP test thread, all I have to say (although I like the test) is that I miss Bob Irons.

Rest in peace Bob, you are missed and thought of fondly.

I meant to thank you guys for the TP test. I used it last spring during the ABS cutting competion. Only about 30% passed as most of the guys had the points of their knives beefed up thinking we were going to do some heavy work with the points. They never know what they are going to cut till the contest starts. It was a hoot. I did give proper credit near as I could. If you come up with others let me know, I try and keep up with anything out of the normal realm of testing.

something like cliff-hanger..or is the excution of the testing not scientific or thorough enuff??? would like some comments
on sharpening...if it could be possible..

Are you sure this is a legitimate test? I could probably do that with a spoon! I don't know, whatever. I did try it with my newest knife; a Shatt & Morgan Stockman, and it did work.
THANKS!!!

I had them do a free hanging cut. The TP was unrolled by 2 pieces. They had to cut from one end to the other end of the bottom section. No tears permitted.
Just a good sharp edge. Not to steep of an angle. Go fast. Do not know for sure how the other guys here did it but that is the way I thought it would work well.

Oh Thank GOD!
When I saw the topic title I thought something terrible had happened that involved "passing" knives and toilet paper being needed (in great quatities I assume) to help clean up the mess!

Interesting test....
may have to try this one on some of the thinner edged blades I have.
