I got a chance to play with my JK Knives The Tool (designed by mykel m) some today. I didn't get a picture with it at work, but below are some pictures of the knife, sheath, and striker on the end of the tang.
I spent an hour or so working on my property today. I almost always carry a fixed blade and a pocket knife when I do so (and sometimes an axe or machette). The Tool was used to cut some small branches off of a small dead tree that I hauled away after cutting it up. It cut through the branches with ease - a job normally left for my BK7. The Tool was obviously smaller and lighter than the BK7, but it did the job nonetheless. When I got back to the house, it still cut paper as well as it did before.
I would have liked to have taken pictures while working, but Wife has the good camera in Texas and the one she left me is pretty crappy in the absence of good lighting (rainy season here, and it was drizzling on and off this morning). So all I have for now are pictures taken this afternoon when the clouds rolled away.
The other side of the knife from the picture that John has in the "Almost ready to ship" thread. This side is much more red than the other, giving the knife some interesting character. I like it:
The striker on the end of the tang:
The knife in the heavy duty and very nice sheath that John made (note the loop for the fire starter, John also included a small piece of ironwood to use as a top for a fire starter to match the knife - a project for this winter, I imagine). 'Scuse the shadows:
I love this knife. Solid and easy to use. I can tell you now that this will be my go-to fixed blade when I'm doing actual work. It is a fine tool and an excellent job by John. I am very pleased with it.
