16 inches long overall, 2 1/2" wide, 7/16" thick, 2.25 pounds (40.6 x 6.3 x 1.1cm, 1kg), zone hardened 5160 (forged from an old Mercedes spring in Nepal)

Some of the lunatics^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^H creative people who hang out on the Himalayan Imports forum at this website got the idea they wanted a cross between an Ang Khola khukuri and a Bowie knife -- this is it.

If there is any knife that could survive an encounter with an atomic bomb, this is the one.

I can hardly wait to see what Cliff Stamp does with his when it arrives.

LOL! This thread could be a lot of fun!

I have to ask, though -- are any of those knives 7/16" thick?

I don't think I've seen that one before, St. James -- what the heck is that?

Maybe we can get together with Mike Turber and test vises this time ... see how many degrees he can bend these knives to before the vise breaks....

CA- That, my friend, is a Chris Reeve One Piece Sable with a 12-1/2" blade. The spine is a mere 3/8ths of an inch thick

This is going to be fun

LOL - I guess Mike has banned pictures of the ever lame TORCH DAGGER from being posted up here! hahaha. Oh god, anyone who's had one of those knows how pathetic they are...

WHAT?!?

You mean its not one of the knives from the Gil Hibben RAMBO Series?

First though when I saw your thread was "OH NO NOT AGAIN", but, couldn't resist looking anyway. Great knives all around. Just, feel free to mail them to my attention when you get tired of them.

We should add Edmund Davison to the list of great all time Hacker makers. The guy has been making great (Big) high quality camp knives since the mid 80s. I have one of his 12" bowie with a rhino hide sheath that fits right in here.

Then there is that Micra + Vampire Gerbil combo...too scary to contemplate (whew!)

How about some specs, guys? Even if yours doesn't beat the Ang Khola Bowie ... some of the people who wander into this thread might actually consider weight less than 2.25 pounds an advantage....

I hadn't known Chris Reeve made anything that big, didn't even recognize his distinctive handle....

The Tom Mayo knife is Talonite IIRC; I saw a post about it, but how about posting the specs here, Tom?

Grnamin's knife looks familiar; I think I saw a post about it a while ago, but I don't remember the specs or who made it.

Stihl ... um ... is that knife 7/16" thick? Does it weigh 2.25 pounds? I'm not sure we're all clear on the concept....

I think there must be other makers grinding out monstrosities ... why not post a pic and some specs? I don't think anyone will accuse you of spamming ... I asked for it, after all, and I don't think I'm the only one interested.

I have a vision of an ultimate knife test ... a free-for-all of knifemakers hacking at each others' knives ... just like the way the actors in medieval movies hack at each others' swords ... the last knife left intact will be the winner! As long as everybody wears safety glasses in case of flying fragments it should be perfectly safe; you'll be in even less danger than the actors in those movies -- they don't wear safety glasses.

Well I'm pretty sure this is not the toughest. But it is the biggest. Enter Japanese Nodachi (long sword) 1447. By a smith named Norimitsu.

I did get the joke, Stihl ... I was playing straight man.

I poked around a little and found the pic Tuff tried to post ... it doesn't seem to be a serious contender (pseudo-medieval dagger with stainless blade, handle is "brass-overlayed" "metal" ... I presume that means plated zinc....) That server seems to be running slow, so rather than post the pic I'll post a link to the text with pics in case anybody's interested and doesn't mind waiting while it loads: http://grendelscave.net/armory/daggers/damedtorch/damedtorch.htm

There's nothing wrong with posting joke entries -- in fact maybe we could spin off a thread for pics of knives that Corduroy would call "the mighty" fubar -- but how about some more serious entries, too? There must be more monstrous knives out there....

Come to think of it, I'll post a link in the Shop Talk forum -- that might get some response.

that dagger isn't a contestor. i think wes hibben's dagger featured in knives illustrated in early 99' was better. it was 17" with a malachite handle.
