I got a Marbles camp cleaver machete on eBay real cheap. I thought it would be fun to play with and I liked the lines of it. I was looking at it, and it reminded me of my Tom Brown Trackers.

I marked in black the area I wanted to cut out. It looked like it would work.

A little cutting with the Dremel tool...

Gave me this:

I grinded down the edge on my belt sander and then used a Lansky to set the edge angle for the draw knife. First 25 degrees and then 20.

Then I stripped the orange paint, and called it a night.

Tomorrow I'll finish up the edge, get the quarter round sharpened, and begin to replace the terrible handle on the thing. I don't know if I'll leave the finish as-is or do my best to polish it and then acid-etch it like I did with my T-01 Tracker. I'll update this thread after tomorrow's work.

HAHA thats wonderful!!! It's like the three bears now lol!

are you going to flatten the spine and saw tooth it too?

Thanks! I'm going to leave the spine as-is so it has extra weight for chopping. The saw back on the Tracker is good if you use it to scrape sideways across the teeth to make long thin shavings to use as tinder, but it doesn't saw very well. I want this machete to be functional. The three most important features of the Tracker to me are the big curved blade up front for chopping, the quarter-round in between the two blades which make featherstick curls like Shirley Temple's hair, and the handle with it's many grip positions. I'm keeping those in the machete mod.
