Now Im not perticularly talking about some rare or very expensive knife, just the knife you always wanted and just never got around to picking up. I was looking at some knives tonite and was thinking about how for the last 2 or 3 years I was always going to get myself a whittler. But when I had extra cash I always bought something else with it.(usually a schrade just not a schrade whittler). The ones I like arent super rare or out of my price range I have just never gotten down to it and said Im gonna get myself a whittler today. I dont even know for sure what perticular whitler it is I want, maybe a swell center ,or I believe ther is some that share a spring that are very cool. So what knife , style, brand name, size or whatever did you always want and just havent gotten around to picking up yet??? - Joel

A wildcat driller... I've wanted one for a couple years now, it was one of the first patterns that drew me to slippies, but every time i have the cash for one, I end up picking something else-- usually 2 something elses 'cause of the high end that wildcats tend to run ;)

I have cured that itch on a whittler, swell center, and a grand daddy barlow. I now want a sway back with a wharncliffe blade, and I am also dying to own a toe nail from Fight'n rooster or Case's wood scaled ones. I am always in a hunt for a really cool end of day fight'n rooster in a stockman pattern. OK, so I have a couple on the wish list....:o:o:o

The next CASE/Bose collaboration:D

The waiting is TERRIBLE I fear they will all be sold out:eek:Keeps me awake at night, NNNNorfolk, NNNo, aarghh!

I don't have a canoe, even though I have liked them for awhile and they are not hard to get or necessarily expensive.

That's easy. Not sure if it belongs in this sub-forum though(however it IS a lockback).

Spyderco Full Sized Persian C83...they were discontinued before I even heard about them.:(

For traditionals, everything I've lusted after so far, I've bought. (except for customs) ;) One of the things that's really great about collecting traditional knives is that you can get pretty much any new production knife for under $150, including some really, really nice ones. I can swing up to $150 pretty easily, and pretty often (knock on wood!)

For knives in general, I've always wanted a Sebenza, but I've never been able to justify paying that much for a folder. I've paid way more than that for fixed blades, but never got around to buying a Sebenza. Until last week. :) It should arrive this afternoon!

A Loveless Chute Knife...cost has a lot to do with not getting one even tho I would be just as happy with an AG Russell Version. Someday tho...

I have collected most of the Amber Bone Canal Street Cutlery offerings from when they first opened, the only one I seem to be missing is the doctors knife, never seem to get round to picking that one up!

Joel you may try looking on the soonerstateknives.com website, under Canal Street Cutlery, they have just listed a few short runs of an SFO whittler.

A pre depression remington BSA scout knife. They are just too expensive -> I want to carry/use every knife I own.

Peter

edit: oh and an M3. they are hard to find over here, so I haven't picked one up yet, but I will.

Baby Butterbean. I like the smaller knives, but since I have a Peanut already which is nearly the same size, I haven't gotten around to actually purchasing a Butterbean. Someday if I can find one with good scales in CV or another Carbon steel...

I'd always wanted one of the S&M File & Wire Gunstocks. Luckily there was one available in the exchange a few days ago and I was able to snag it. Can't wait for it to arrive. :)

Not sure what will be tops on the wanted list now. Maybe a nice canoe.

a real elephant toenail! The old ones bring big money and manufacturers bring them out periodically always coinciding with me being broke:(
eventually i'll get one...;) right now they are the holy grail

There are two knives that I regret never picking up. The first is the Queen Dan Burke Rancher. The second has been discontinued for a few years now, it is the AG Russell Texas Ranger Toothpick. That knife had a beautiful leaf shaped blade, I don't know why I waited so long to get it.

I have a fantasy knife that I've always wanted and I'd love to get it if I could just find someone that would make it. I came close with that latest Ken Coats folder I ordered and I do love it and carry it daily. My wife made a nice leather pocket carry pouch for it and its been my constant companion since it arrived but what I want and would still love to get done for me one day is this.

Remember the old Gerber slim line series? Well, these were slip joints with a 'safety pause' so they did not snap shut on fingers and even though they had this feature of having to be pushed shut all the way and manually by the owner that was built into them they snapped open really nice about like any regular slippie with snap both ways. The other thing they had going for them, at least on the single blade model PK3 was the work hardened brass liner lock like you see in electricians knives. To me this was a super idea.

Jump ahead to current day and Case is doing two models now that are much closer to what my want has been all my life. I happen to have two that I also own and like a lot. The Case Trapper-Lock and the Mid Folding Hunter. http://blog.knifecenter.com/case-trapperlock-folders/

http://yourcornerstore.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=16529

What I've always wanted was the safety pause feature on a custom slippie, built with .065 liners of 410 stainless and a liner lock built in like the old electricians knives used but still keeping with a 'slimline' profile. Then just like Case is doing now I wanted a thumb stud with one hand opening and again like Case is doing with a pocket clip feature or at least threaded holes so I can make one of my own clips for tip up carry not tip down (I can do that part myself truth in point) but no one has ever been interested in tackling this job. Oh, and as a final twist I want it made with a shallow easy open feature (yes even with the stud on it for both method opening) in a modified Wharncliffe combo spear blade of ATS34, S30V, or D2 but made with no swedge and no nail nick much like the blade Ken made up for me on his which is just the way I ordered it. I have about given up on this fantasy knife but its the one I wanted but never bought. Never found would be more accurate description though.

Oh and here is the one I got from Ken that was my second fantasy knife more obtainable. If one of you slip joint makers sees my request and feel you can tackle it hey man, get in touch with me. I've wanted this fantasy folder all my life.

Top of my wish list is a 1800s Horseman's knife with stag scales. 2nd would be an old champagne pattern with mop scales.

A Jack knife from Ken Erickson or Ken Coats..
Seems every time I have the extra scratch and one is listed, I'm always to late.
