I've been carrying a Boker Trance now for about a week since my Sebbie is in the shop getting a tune up. Today I noticed that if I pull it out of either my front or rear pocket and hold a slight outward tension the Trance opens cleanly on its on. The thumb stud catches on the top of the pocket and waa la. It even works sitting down. This is so cool. If you have a Trance try it yourself.

The reliability of the wave on the Trance is over 95%. That is with wearing jeans. I'll have to try it tomorrow with non jeans - kahkis.

If that's the case then it sounds to me like the same can be done with a number of folders.

Yeah- it looks like it. It even works with a thumb disk. I'm really glad I found this thread- I handn't though about any of this before.

(Yes, I know I'm a little vid happy at the moment, but I finally got iMovie figured out...)

rWorks on hundreds of knives. Works on my Strider SMF. Lots of knives that have a thumb ramp for you thumb to put on while hard cutting, just put a tiny notch in it with a dremel or metal file ,and you have a wave. I 'll bet you can wave either way on about 75% of folders.

Tried it this morning with Kahkis - 25 drawls and 100% full openings. Slight cant forward with tip. Nearly vertical.

I tried it out on a few of my folders, worked pretty well, but I still like my waved Delica much more. ;) Fun to play with, though.

Haha someone is getting a case of the "wave" bug. Last month, I've waved a BM 556. BM 558, Byrd Cara Cara and a Bm 555. The waves work almost as good as the wave on my delica4 wave.
