Around the time both before and after a divorce, I ordered a large and small Sebenza and an Umfaan.
These were not ordered all at once, of course. It took maybe 15 months.
Anyway, the Sebenzas were the plain models, and the Umfaan had the zig-zag pattern of that year (1999?).
Things were disappearing from my house and I had an identity crisis well underway.
I decided I would keep the trio no matter what.
I called Anne Reeve and discussed engraving. I sent all three in and had my full name engraved on all of them. I also had the scale that had the zig-zag pattern on the Umfaan removed and replaced with a plain one.
The vision of the net effect was matching knives, and personalized.
When they came back (maybe 10 days) I was amazed that the engraving font had been adjusted in proportion to each knife.
They are beautiful and very special.
They represent more than steel and will surely be handed down with a story about an episode in my life.
They just cannot be replaced and they are my favorites.
