Of course, we're all wondering what Jerry meant when he wrote "in just a few" with regard to the Tank Buster coming down. A few minutes? Obviously not, given that it is still up. A few hours? Doesn't seem so. A few days? Very likely.
Anyway, the mystique behind Busse Combat time, which is often encapsulated into the phrase "two weeks," is best explained not in terms of minutes, hours, days, weeks, or months, but rather in terms of shots, glasses, bottles, cases, and vats. More specifically, I am coming to the conclusion that Busse Combat time refers to the amount of actual time that is required to consume those quantities.
This goes a long way in explaining why Busse Combat time is seemingly variable, because it is, at least when viewed in actual time.
In terms of the variable aspects, sometimes Jerry drinks more than usual. Well, maybe not sometimes, because for all we know he gets his scotch through an IV, but he would clearly supplement it by raising (and emptying) a glass.
So, in order to move things along more quickly, and as Jerry likes to say, let's drink!!!
