The pursuit of in these difficult financial times has probably driven more than one of us hogs and hogettes to narrow our search to the "perfect" examples of Jerry's art as each of us defines it. For me, I am a Steel Heart kinda gal and always will be. I am old school, I love my SH-E user and my BM-E, the ergos and the straight handles. For some reason they fit my smaller hands better and make my chores much easier.
Recently through the endless generosity of a fellow straight handle lovin' hog, I finally acquired my very own SHBA, and thus, what I consider to be the "perfect pair" for any and all situations: the SHSHII and the SHBA:
But with my brand-new SHBA, my benefactor sent along a user for me to play with: an infi SHBA (bottom knife pictured below):
Obligatory comparison spine shot:
So what I decided to do was spend the next few weeks giving this little beast a workout. I put away all of my other knives and used only the infi SHBA for everything at home and afield. Kitchen duty:
It even slices tomato without a blip:
And the toughest task of all, cutting down the ever-present encroaching sumac in my dog yard:
My conclusions? Ahhhh...this little blade is like an extension of my hand. It does everything well and is forcing me to rethink how big a knife has to be to be a great all-rounder! Did I mention that it has done all of these chores for me and not once have I touched up the edge?
That's old school perfection for you!
