yesterday i swung into a local flea market, and as i was wondering around i ran into a guy with a bootfull of "china" knives for sale, but in the little roll-up case he had a 897UH knife, mint condition, and was asking $25 for it. i offered him my western and $10, but when he looked at my truck, he seen my 13" turkey beard i had hanging from my rearview mirror. he asked if he could look at it, so i took it out, nothing but a beard off a turkey i killed a few years back. this guy got all excited and ended up trading me the schrade, 12 cheap cheap china knives, a fake samurai sword, and a brand new "smiths" diamond sharpner, plus a silver 1913 dime in mint condition!!! naturally i eased the UH in my pocket, then continued on around the flea market. i sold all 12 china knives for $24, the samurai sword for $15, the sharpner for $15, and decided to keep the dime in the little plastic holder. dang why cant a deal come along like that more often?? this guy wanted the crummy beard to use in a necklace or something. but either way, i got me a 897 now, a hell of a profit, and i am loving it!:D

Nice horse dealin'.

Where is this guy? I've got a bunch of turkey beards I could let go of. :D

Kris, That is right up my alley, other than my schrades I dont seem to have anything for too long. My wife considers me a hores trader too. Im constantly buying stuff that no one can understand but usually making a profit. good job selling the junk knives for a $ I was laughing out loud while I read your story. buying and selling ok but trading god knows who and what will come out of the wood work.- congrats on that 897 -Joel

Nice Post Fireman. You were wheelin and dealin all right! Those kind of knives are always more special than the others.

hahaha!! i swear i can go to the local flea markets and never spend a dime what i dont make a profit! speaking of horses, a lady called me with a 6 yr old quarter horse gelding, says its tame, she wants $250 for it, so i am considering getting it and then selling it for about $1500. hey, a fella has to make a living! seriously, there is a real shortage of schrades here in the last few months. places that had display cases full or completely out now, so my only option is the flea markets and antique stores. but the thing with flea markets is that they sell mostly china knives, and when i say china knives, i mean those damn little plastic handle jobs u buy by the bucket, i am sure u have all seen them. i have a guy trying now to trade me a buck knife, dont even know what type, but i dont think it is old, i believe it to be one of the new wal-mart specials. there are countless flea markets here, and alot of people who know nothing about knives, so i usually come out on top!
