The Turtle Man......

Snapper walked across the parking lot in front of me at a local municipal lake.

I'm not going to lie, those things worry me when I'm thigh deep in one of the my local murky water ways fishing. I definitely watch for bubbles and their heads to pop up. They worry me more then snakes for whatever reason. I guess because I think I can see snakes coming and they can't take one of my toes off under the water.

The guy's a moron. And those are babies.

Grabbin a snapper by the tail like that can cause internal hemorrhage that kills em.

Proper safe way to lift em is: One hand on the shell immediately behind the head, and the other on the tail end of the shell.

I've lifted 30 inch (conservative measurement) snappers this way. No problems.

I'm sure the cooking and the eating doesn't do too much good for them either...

I'd love to see that guy try that on an alligator snapping turtle.

It can be done, but it's usually not a good idea to stick your hand anywhere near the head.

I've read it's safer for you and for the turtle, to use your foot to press down on the back end of the shell and pick them up by both back legs.

Of course, if you gonna eat them anyway, does it matter if it's safe for the turtle? :)

Eatin em - don't matter how you grab em.

I just didn't want WSS brothers thinkin that was the proper way to relocate.

If you put your hand on top of the shell and slide it up behind the head - snappy can't do a thing. Will make some impressive efforts tho.

Plus, those was small for eatin size.

I wouldn't try it ! I always have to wonder why when I see these video's why it's almost always a southerner , they have a mullet , and their front toofeses are missing :D ?

Common snappers in the video.

The guys in the pic with the alligator snapper have the grip right.

Got 3 free rounds of golf from a snapper almost that size that had laid her eggs in a sand trap around here.

Greenskeeper gave me the rounds for movin her down to the lake.
