I finished these recently and Jim Cooper (thanks Coop) did his typical amazing photography. This pair was done for the upcoming Dr. David Doram '100 Custom Knifemakers' book. I normally start with at least two blanks for a project and hope at least one turns out as my mortality rate is high. In this case, both turned out and the construction process will be shown over two pages in the book.

The specifics are:
CPM154CM steel. This is the new particle technology smelted 154CM steel from Crucible. The advantage of this steel is the proven, excellent 154CM (ATS-34) composition coupled with Crucibles particle, vacuum smelting technology that provides a very homogeneous metal. This stuff polishes up just like RWL-34, a European ATS-34. These have a 10" hollow grind with slow drop point, mirrored in the hollow and the flats. The bolsters are 416ss and dovetailed. Blade length is approx 4 3/4" and OAL is approx 9 3/4".
The top knife uses black line spalted maple burl, stabilized by WSSI along with a black liner for accent. The bottom knife uses redwood burl, also stabilized by WSSI with a red liner.

Thanks for looking. I enjoyed making these and I'm going to see they remain a pair - at least until they are not mine anymore...
