Yep, another Tyrade post. Just can't get over how well put together Kershaw's Tyrade has been done. The framelock on this one is outstanding and compares to the industry standard, the CRK Sebenza. I have owned a few Sebenza's during my collection building time and have always considered their framelock to be the very best available. Even though the Tyrade does not have the Sebenza's bearing system, it's framelock is as good as the one's on the various Sebenza's I have owned. To me a framelock should have a stiff locking bar, a little "stick" between the lock bar and the blade tang, and the blade tang should have a little overhang that prevents the lock from traveling up the face of the blade tang, the Tyrade has them all! Another thing I like to see on a framelock is the inability to push the lockbar further to the right once the initial lockup has been accomplished, and the lockbar on my Tyrade absolutely will not move over once locked, it would take a pair of Channel Locks to make it move to the right! Far as I am concerned the Tyrade has filled the place of the mythical XL Sebenza I have dreamed about!!

I'm sitting here looking at mine, I like the points you've made.
I agree with how it locks into place.

I like the custom look that it has to it.
They did an outstanding job with the Tyrade.

I agree, the framelock on the Tyrade is one of the finest examples.

Have you noticed the top of the framelock (the part that makes contact with the tang)?

There seems to be some special coating (or is not coated with the bronze colour). Certainly looks intentional and is aimed to provide the best grip and contact.

I really love the shape of the blade.

But recently, I've been thinking about something interesting.

Would it be possible to make the false edge (the top part of the blade) into a cutting edge (as a spear point)?

Has anybody done it and what are the pros and cons?
