No So after a fairly long hiatus from buying knives for myself, I am probably going to purchase a couple. I got a rather unexpected infusion of money at the beginning of the month, and after paying off the credit cards, taking care of a number of bills in advance, and weathering the Christmas season with plenty left socked away, I find that my beast needs to be fed.

I've narrowed the field quite a bit, but it's like being a kid in a candy store, and selecting what to break my fast with is proving difficult. Mostly GEC, but there are a couple of Case in the running.

What I'm looking at: a Northwoods Presidential or a TK Cuban, the 15 Farm Boy (or really any iteration of the 15. Any of the Charlow versions would be awesome, but that isn't likely to be in the cards; I'm actually making sure that there's money for one the next time Mr. Campagna has a run done), a 48 trapper, another 54 whittler (or possibly one of the new 54's in smooth autumn bone), a Calf Roper, a 77 or 78 (Washington would be nice, but I haven't seen one of those pop up in a long time), and to throw some lockbacks in a 73 or Wallstreet.

As far as the Case go, still in the running are a copperlock, and a trapper in cv.

Some I've been eyeing more than others, but these are the ones that I keep wandering back to.

I know. Big list. Y'all should have seen it a few days ago...

When looking over the pieces of pie offered for sale at the cafeteria I realize I can only handle one piece each meal - so grab one and go - you will enjoy any knife on your list. OH

What are your prefs as far as handle material and blade steel? Doesn't seem like it from your list, but does the size matter much? Thanks!

Thanks all. I was on the road most of the day. Appreciate the responses, though I'm no closer to a decision.

That is probably what it will come down to.

I prefer bone usually, and carbon for GEC, though I honestly haven't tried the other steels. Generally I don't go smaller than 3 1/2 inches, or the knife will get lost in all the junk that ends up in my pocket.
All good choices. Spend a few $ on one of those plastic 8 balls.
... And that is probably worth looking into.
