I just got my A-100 in the mail and I have never been more pleased with a brand than Emerson. I have some of the best knives made from the 'big four' manufacturers and IMHO, none can hold a candle to an Emerson in quality or design.

For me, the A-100 is the ultimate EDC. It is small enough for easy carry, built heavy enough for hard use and has a sort of Zen design in it's simplicity. I don't really have to mention to you guys, just how sharp these EKI blades are, nor how well built the knife is, but I discovered a tidbit many may not know.

When I first looked at the A-100's handle, my thought was how easy it would be to have your hand slip onto the blade. Well, set your minds at ease, as the knife sticks to your hand like glue. Other than the excellent G-10 texture on an Emerson, the A-100 has a couple of less obvious details that help secure the hand. First, the handle tapers toward the butt of the knife, which tends to re-enforce your grip. Second and perhaps more important, the jimping on the handle and blade is sharper than the standard jimping on other EKI knives. All of the above factors together, lend a positive and secure grip.

Some day, when it stops raining here on the Wet Coast, I'll post some detailed pictures. Until then, if you are on the fence about the A-100, jump off, as the knife is a winner.

Thanks, Lycosa! Why do I have the feeling that the Mini-A-100 is next? ;)
Because, it's the right thing to do :p After I received the A-100 Jay just happened to get the mini's in, about a week later. Wow! these two knives make the perfect edc team, there all you said, including the ZEN factor

Mini A-100 is my next knife. Gotta wait awhile. Trying to limit to one per month. Now that's willpower.

If you can limit yourself to one a month, then you've got moxie
My willpower went south for the winter, and never returned

One per month!

That means that I am 100% over budget, but I am trying...really. :o

One a month isnt too bad :)

I was on 3 or 4 a week for a while back in the day, after a long stint at the EKI rehabilitation
center I got it right down to a minimum and managet to stop at 2 or 3 of each model.

Yup, I hear ya Haze. So far, I have been buying everything in Satin Finish, but I know damned well it is just as an excuse to buy seconds in BT.

I think that I am going to have to burn all my recipts, because if I croaked and she found them, she would haunt me in the afterlife.

I know it'd kill the "zen" like quality but I wish it had the Wave. If I happen to wave my Snubby out of pocket and it doesn't catch it's like a big let-down. I'm not that addicted, am I? :p

" ZEN" is in the holding,of said Emerson's, sooo if it flips open or not,the Zen is still there. Have no fear, you have the "ZEN" with the Snubby. :D

APF---Do you like STONE WASHED??

What? Am I stoned?? Oh, heh, stone washed blades. ;)

I don't mind stone washed blades as they manage to keep the rust at bay better than bead blasted does. I pretty much like most finishes as they provide a variety, but in a perfect world, a nice (true) satin or DLC finish would make me happy.

I wonder if some Emerson knuts will stick to the blade coating that they have or itch for the new Stone Washed Emersons??

Tough call, Lycosa. I do like the coating on the A-100, as you get some protection, the advantage of the nice looks of bead blast without the corrosion problem. That said, my CQC-10 is of the new generation of stone washed blades and it looks sharp as hell. I don't know, as I would be hard pressed to pick. Doesn't Emerson use Cerakote for it's satin blades?

APF---Yup, something like that. I like what ever is on my knife. I have the coating, Satin, but if I want to strip it, I know what to do.
