I just got my A-100 in the mail and I have never been more pleased with a brand than Emerson. I have some of the best knives made from the 'big four' manufacturers and IMHO, none can hold a candle to an Emerson in quality or design.
For me, the A-100 is the ultimate EDC. It is small enough for easy carry, built heavy enough for hard use and has a sort of Zen design in it's simplicity. I don't really have to mention to you guys, just how sharp these EKI blades are, nor how well built the knife is, but I discovered a tidbit many may not know.
When I first looked at the A-100's handle, my thought was how easy it would be to have your hand slip onto the blade. Well, set your minds at ease, as the knife sticks to your hand like glue. Other than the excellent G-10 texture on an Emerson, the A-100 has a couple of less obvious details that help secure the hand. First, the handle tapers toward the butt of the knife, which tends to re-enforce your grip. Second and perhaps more important, the jimping on the handle and blade is sharper than the standard jimping on other EKI knives. All of the above factors together, lend a positive and secure grip.
Some day, when it stops raining here on the Wet Coast, I'll post some detailed pictures. Until then, if you are on the fence about the A-100, jump off, as the knife is a winner.
