this stuff is ridiculous!!! i used to own a mobile auto detailing service and this stuff would make the worst, nastiest, gnarliest looking chrome look better than new.
i started using it on knives and haven't found anything better.
Thanks - I'll try that on my old straight razors. I've used Maas and it works OK. I've used a mix of ammonia and red rouge and works pretty much like Maas - I think that's the basic formula for several polishes.

All the Jewellers Rouge I've used was too slow for anything but a final polish.
Maybe I just don't have the good stuff.

Flitz, Brasso, and the like aren't ideal for hard steel. For anything bigger than small stains or discolorations you will need a proper cutting compound or metal polish.
Autosol is quick and gives a really bright finish. Farecla G3 gives a slightly deeper finish, but cuts slower.
Mother's Mag and Aluminum polish for me.
