Theodore John "Ted" Kaczynski (born May 22, 1942), aka The Unabomber, is a convicted terrorist best known for his campaign of mail bombings. Kaczynski became infamous for having sent bombs to several universities and airlines from the late 1970s through early 1990s, killing three and wounding 29.

Kaczynski's handmade pistol. He planned to use it "... as a homicide weapon."

New term - "Self Loading Furniture" SLF. Immense amount of effort to avoid detection.

if he made that out in the middle of the woods with minimal access to tools or electricity, i'm impressed. im actually pretty impressed he was able to make it at all (assuming it works).

go blue, ted... :(

I like it! It reminds me of the artist Tom Sach's project where he made weapons out of readily available items, up to and including a (theoretically)functional atomic weapon (minus the explosive and nuclear materials of course). He made several functional guns out of furniture and bits of metal found around the house.

Here's a link to the NY Times review of the show. (Not the best overview in the world, but gives the general idea)

It's good to see that the waiting periods and background checks helped to keep a gun out of the hands of a criminal.

Homemade weapons are totally legal without a background check. A buddy of mine popped out a few AK47 receivers using a homemade die and a gasoline powered log splitter as a press. Get a parts kit and you have a functioning weapon after some fitting. Now, granted it does take some technical skill, but Kaczynski was highly intelligent and well educated.
