The unfortunate death of one of my Beckers...

Hello All,

I was crossing the Verde River in Arizona the other day and somehow, despite the fact that it was my only garment, my BK11 fell out of the neck knife sheath and plummeted into the river to never be seen again. :grumpy:

It was a sad moment for me. I'd had that knife for about 6 years and it was always one of my very favorite tools. It will truly be missed.

Rest in peace.

Survivormind

P.S. Does anyone know where there is some good winter fishing along the Verde in AZ?

Awe man that sucks! Try fishing in the spot you lost the 11, the river owes you, and we all know even fish are attracted to Beckers. :D

Oh no!!!! I'm sorry to hear that.

Sometimes a knife decides to go feral, who are we to say no?

Also, if I read that correctly, you were crossing a river in the full Monty? I wish that was even possible here. It's 3*F with a windchill of -16*.

Hopefully you can get it replaced ASAP.

There's no more fish in that river...
Your BK11 took 'em all out on the way to the bottom.
Losing a blade sucks...sorry to hear it.

We all know why we are here today. Someone we all love has been lost. While some have not spent as much time with him as others, all know and care for him.

As the smallest of his large family, 'Leven thought he had a lot to live up to. With such a big chip on their shoulder, most would become snarky and wicked. However, 'Leven endured and earned his place among his brothers. Here are some tales of his exploits:http: www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthre...es-you)-NEED-a-bk11-(becker-necker)-pic-heavy

Although 'Leven was able to support himself he still often traveled with his father, King Becker. They went through many hikes and camping trips together, and often helped out around the stove and camp when his father was busy. When not alongside his dad 'Leven often spent time with his many brothers, including Tu, Mac, C. Magnus, Seve, and the triplets.

The Beckers are not strangers to loss. Very early in his childhood 'Leven's older brother Egress was killed in a mix up at a factory. He only lived to be 5, and was never able to go camping with his family. Brutus, still hurt by Egress' loss, decided to stay in Camillus instead of moving to Kabar, NY with his family. He now only sees the other Beckers on special occasions. Needless to say, the Becker family will persevere in spite of this new loss.

A fine young individual, 'Leven is survived by his large family and by all of those who knew and loved him.

bummer, I lost my car keys playing in that same river.
There used to be a nice spot to fish near Sycamore (way up stream from Camp Verde) also had some good times fishing way down stream near Horse Shoe Lake.

I vote you rename this thread "the unfortunate departure of one of my Beckers". It's off on an adventure.

I lost my first BK14 in the ocean when I was sailing. That factory sheath was partly to blame as was I. I had it in my back pocket and knew it was loose because it rattled but risked it anyway. I feel your pain brother. That little guy had been everywhere with me.

Yeah, that was the thought the frighteningly came to my mind too. Guess we all know where the line was tied to. Sorry about the 11. Good think, he has offspring waiting to be adopted and loved!

Sorry to hear that, man. Glad it didn't cut anything on the way down! And hey, it's an excuse to go buy another. Or two. Y'know, just in case. :D

May your sorrow be replaced by the adoption of a new becker. Our fallen heroes will always be remembered. It's time for you to stimulate the economy with another purchase into yourself with a new blade.

Just you throw in a nine and it will gut all the fish
in that area for you plus get that fishy Leven in line
in no time!

You know, it may have been sacrificing itself out of love. It may have wanted you to have a BK14 to make your life a better place.:D

that sucks but then again its a good excuse too go buy another to ease you're pain of course!

is this a common problem for these sheaths? i've got mine (bk11) on a belt clip for now, but part of the reason i bought it was for a neck knife.

i don't spend much time near rivers, but we sure got some deep snowbanks around here.

gunna have to rake some rivers with magnets to get free knives :>
