Red Flower's parents just got in on Sunday. They'll be staying with us for the next 6 months. They're in their 70s, retired. Her mom had been to the US on some short business trips, her dad, never. It's kind of fun showing them around.

They're big city folks, from Beijing. We live in a small town, so there are lots of differences. My ma will be touring them around the town today. We've got the county fair coming up this weekend, then Highland Games next weekend. We've got a long list of things to do and places to see. We'll pace ourselves though, to give them a good flavor of life in the US.

It's a Chinese tradition to take a short walk, (they say 100 steps but we go a little further) after dinner. Yesterday Red Flower and I were walking after dinner with her parents. Red Flower saw a guy with a 2-cycle leaf blower clearing debris. She said we should get one because it would make the housework easier. In the future I'll try to get some pictures of Red Flower tidying up the living room with the 2-cycle. Red Flower does not mess around! I guess she liked those power tools we got!

Howard that would disturb my allergies to the point of death. I'd laugh my butt off though. Gotta get a pic of her using a blower in the living room. Hilarious.

Howard that sounds interesting . I wonder what they will make of the Highland games . I especially like the hay bale toss . Oh yeah , the dancers hold my attention for some reason as well . L:O:L Will you treat them to a Bridy meat pie ? (Sp)

What do they think of your garden ? I just picked up a peace lily for mine . It is growing in water . I will separate it into two and have half in a cut glass pitcher of my Great Grand Mothers and the other half will go in a small wall mounted Lions head fountain . The lilys are even touted as an eco-system aquarium for fish .

I hope Red Flower enjoys their stay .

When I worked at the Psych Hospital one of the female staff had an ex boyfriend. She had a lot of those. But this one stood out because when his place got dirty enough, he'd take the garden hose and wash the room out. Over everything- stereo, tv, whatever. What remained in the room was his and what was squirted outside was not.

Heck no. He was just a regular San Bernardino guy.
... with no drywall joints left in his livingroom.:)

The leaf blower as a housecleaning tool has some real potential, though ... I mean, really it's just a backwards vacuum. Set a dumpster outside, rig a chute to the kid's bedroom window, and zowie. No more unmatched socks.

I've used an electric leaf blower in the garage. Worked great!
Start at the back end and blow everything not heavy out the garage doors.

I hope her parents don't go into culture shock.
