The value of a carnivour

I have been thinking about picking up a REKAT Carnivour. There seems to be no question as to lock strength etc, however general QC seems to come up often. Do the newer knives have smooth action, how is fit and finsh. For more than a $100 I expect a knive that has at least the fit, finsh and smoothness of a $40 Impulse. Is this the case.

thanks,
Rick

I just got a new one lately (from Murray at Pro-Edge), and the action wasn't very smooth (not like an axis lock). But, it with some directions it was easy to take apart and clean up. If you like weekend projects this is a great knife for you.

I have a REKAT Pioneer (1st generation) and just got a Carnivour. What happens with the action is three things:
1) The Rolling Lock is always engaged against the tang of the blade, thus there is a friction point not found on most other folders.

2) REKAT doesn't seem to want to remove the grind lines from the tang that run the same direction as the part of the lock that always touches the tang. On my Pioneer this makes for a very bumpy ride from closed to open or vice versa. On my Carnivour there were almost no grind lines, and the ones that were there were easy to remove.

3) They overtighten the pivot bolts, which are easy to adjust with a metric allen wrench. I'm going to review the Carnivour right now, so head over to the Reviews forum.
