Well here it is at last. My first ever completed knife. But before I get into a few details I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that's participated on this forum. It's been an enormous help to me. Thank you to all of the knifemakers out there that went through the trouble of posting articles here with very helpful information for the beginning knifemaker. It's very much appreciated. I'm an instructor and during the semesters my time is limited, so I have a habit of lurking throughout the forums here a lot. I wish that I had more time available for participation. Thanks also to all of the folks that have bothered to create, edit, and post videos about their processes, their designs, and their patience because one must surely possess a lot patience to deal with that.

I'll link my photos of the knife from photobucket (I hope). This knife is the result from a knifemaking course I took at one of the community colleges here in NC. The class was very helpful and I learned a lot. It was a lot of fun and I wished that I could have taken more. I also wish that I had taken some photos of the process for future reference but I forgot my camera.

The knife is 440C stainless (2" x 5/32") with a hollow grind. Overall length is 7-1/2 and the blade is 3-1/4 inches. The handle is black linen micarta. There are obvious flaws but it is my first knife. I'm very pleased with the result. It's also the first knife I've worked on with an edge that is hair-poppin' sharp (but the instructors helped me with that.)

Thank you!

Looks a bit like a loveless hunter. Beautiful job, I can't believe that is your first!

Like that one. Don't ever sell it or throw it away. I would put that in a display case myself. You have good reason to be proud of it!

I had fun looking at your photos. Excellent job! Looking forward to more of your craftsmanship.

Great job for a first knife. It looks like a great user - sharp, stout and comfortable. If I were you, I'd start using that knife as much as possible so you can figure out things you like and things you don't, so you can improve your next design. I hope that I'll be able to make a knife of my own, someday.
