I just purchased a JYDll composite blade from Knife Works.I hate the wait for new steel:grumpy:What is everyones take on this knife? This is my first composite blade from Kershaw. How does the CPM-D2 hold up?Any issues with the edge.I have read great things on these knives but was just wanting to hear from someone who has used one.
Thanks

It's amazing. You will have to cut something tougher than drywall (my test) to make the edge fail...I just dulled it, and it resharpened quickly and impressively.

Agree with Joe do I *lil Yoda reference there :p)

very solid knife. good strong edge that stays sharp for a good amount of time. you wont be disappointed in it, especially if you already have the JYD2 in 13c26

I don't have a JYDll in 13C26 but I do have a Cyclone in that steel and it takes a very keen edge.It holds it fairly well also.I hear the CPM-D2 takes a good keen edge

OL has seen mine which I have used and abused to the max. He will attest that it was still in decent cosmetic shape, and extremely functional shape.

I can even darken the blade again once I wear the contrast off of the D2.

Top 5 best values on the market right now, and it you can do some basic mods, then it becomes on helluva knife.

PM me if you want pics or a list of mods. Buy with confidence sir :)

I created a choil, removed the thumb bump, and reduced the "pinky" area of the grip. The picture above should show that.

I also removed the clip and turned it into a short and symmetrical version which I drilled (use oil, go slow) and then disassembled the knife. I measured the gap in the liners that allowed me to use the G-10 to mount the clip tip up. I used a small phillips head bolt with a nut on the interior, and loc-tite to secure the clip.

I slightly convexed the blade, used acetone to remove the oil from the blade, and then soaked the blade (just the blade) in white vinegar from the grocery for 4-5 hours to darken the D2. Then, I removed the blade, washed it, and acetoned the blade again. Then I oiled the blade again to reseal the D2 from oxidation and patina.

I think you will love it! It is fantastic steel! I prefer to use my CPM D2 Leek though. The JYD II was too big for work. (according to them anyway)
I used my composite JYD II when hunting this past fall and cleaned a couple grouse with it, cutting bones and all and didnt have any issues whatsoever.
I never had any edge issues and it takes and holds a great edge! Enjoy it! Let us know your thoughts when it arrives ;)

You'll love the JYDII CB!! I've had mine for a while and it's still one of my top 5 favorite knives. As far as the CPM D2, it seems to hold an edge really well, although I'm not particularly hard on my knives, and it sharpens up easily with just a couple passes on the sharpmaker. Hopefully you don't have to wait too long!!

P.S. the bulky pocket clip seems to be about the only fault this knife has IMO, if it's not to your liking you could check out one of STR's low rider clips., it's on my "things to get" list.

I got one in November and I really like it. I like the blade shape on it alot as I find it very practical and I love the way the blade looks with the contrast and all.

Curious what you use to sharpen your knives..? :-)

SharpMaker lately (have a set of diamond rods too, which I recommend).

Soon to be a 1x30 belt sander with a multitude of various grit belts and a leather stropping belt. Going the lazy high speed route :D

Anyone else want to give me their take on this knife.Mine should be here WED.

I can't give you my take on this version of the Dawg, but I gave my
son's girlfriends dad an SG2 version. He dressed a couple of deer and
a bear this year with it. He told my son it was by and far the best knife
he has ever owned.
