I AM ON EDGE WAITING FOR MY STARTER... there needs to be some kind of support group for this.Just thinking of everything im gonna do with this knife the day i get it makes it that much harder.im sure it is the same for alot of yall, so whats the first thing youll do with your starter? Is it gonna immediately ride on your hip, or are you gonna just savor it for a few days before you put it work?:D

First step is admitting you have a problem. Next, what are you waiting for from the starter?

I'm waiting for all those whiney choil-lovers to get their starter 5.1's so Guy can get started on my 4.7! :p

There will be unprecedented amounts of fondling happening and then some use around the yard, as much as I can do before getting out for some real adventures.

I even have a couple old models ordered to help get me through the starter wait and it is excruciating waiting for those. I have some thoughts on what may happen when I get my 5, but that is a story for another thread.

Way easier said than done, Fuzzyballs, but try to forget about your order in an effort to make the days go by faster.

I got a pile of oak aging, i hope to turn into ash. I'm positive my 7/7 wont mind helping me with that. I'm sure i can trap hunt or catch something from the river to skin with my 3.5. So sorry starters but its straight to work when you find your way home.

Yeah I must have thought about the starters at least 3 times a day since they were first announced. Then at least 10 times a day since the first day of ordering opened. I am sort of at peace with the wait because I know the S!K team will be busting arse day in and day out to achieve the goals. Keep cheering them on 😊.

I feel your pain. I didn't get in on the starter, but I do have a 4.1 and 5.0 on order and check the order status at least about 5 times a day. It's become a horrible habit. I sold my 5.1 to buy an engagement ring, so am really excited to get another S!K in my hands. That 5.1 was perfect except for the choil (personal preference), so I can't wait for my 5.0 to show up at my door.

Just try and forget about it.
Then it's a pleasant surprise when it shows up.

Difficult, I know.
That's why I order all my knives when I'm too impaired to remember.

1. I'm totally the same way about impulsively checking my order status. GUY OR ELLIE if you read this, I'd like to say that your detailed time line in the Time to your Door thread was a huge relief. You do a great job keeping us informed with the First Friday Updates and I know you have billions of knives to build and a business to run and stuff, but knowing the day or week when Guy will get to certain knives really was nice to know!

2. Dude, that is quite the selfless sacrifice of selling your S! knife for a ring. I hope she shows her appreciation in the most physical way possible.

3. I totally agree about the choil and the 5. I can't to get my hands on mine!

I'm in and need support. It seemed so noble at the time and besides, it will only be a few months - nothing a patient and mature man with plenty of other knives to play with can't handle right? I feel like I did when I was 10 and found my Christmas present (Benjamin pellet gun) in August. Longest 4 months in my life, until now. The only thing I'm hanging on to is that it will be worth it (plus, i don't really have a choice). God grant me the strength to pass on a factory 2nd. I can't do it on my own.

... Feel better now, thanks.

In the end the waiting is fine, you take into consideration how small of an operation they are and the amount of work they must do and I have no problems waiting. Considering my 5.1 was a second and I thought there was absolutely nothing wrong with it you can tell how much the team at survive really cares about their craft and company. Guy's standard's are ridiculous in the best way possible. And they do do a great job of chiming in and letting people know what's what. The only annoying thing about my wait is that it's coming up to Canada which means that when it goes from "awaiting fulfillment" to "shipped" I still have about a 2 week wait because of the border, but the best things are worth waiting for.

My girl is amazing and I would give up the world for her. Sold most of my collection and my two favorites, my S!K 5.1 and my Fallkniven S1, to buy her that ring. She supports my knife habit and encourages it, so she is definitely a keeper and couldn't be happier.

I would have gone in on the 4.7's but 5 inches is just the right amount of blade for me. I want to see what the finished Starter's will look like. I've had my eye on a 7/7 for a while now as it about as large as I would go with a fixed blade. I'm an axe guy so as much as I like the 10 and 12, they would just not see enough use from me.

Well the wait on the starters is finally over. Its here ladies and gentlemen. The 5.1 starters will be shipping out before we know it, its only fitting this thread be rejuvenated. What does everyone have plans for their new babies. I still have full intentions in putting mine straight to work most likely straight out of the box.

I definitely have plans for a lot of use when my babies arrive, but straight out of the box there will be glamour shots, maybe some selfies, and endless fondling of the handle and admiring of the new finish.

It's funny how the waiting wasn't an issue during the preorder period, until I placed an order for the 5.1 pre-sale the moment it is available. After that the wait seems to gnarl on me, tearing me apart piece by piece, swallow me up, and... I could go on but you get the drift. Can't imagine how it would feel like to wait another two more weeks for the shipping. Would I jump on it and start using it, feeling it's prowess, it's sharpness at work chipping away the wood, and the beautiful contours of the handle? Or would I savor some photo opts, and caressing moments with it first? I really don't know. Guess I need help.

Haha! You'll know what to do when you get it. Just do what feels right :D

The wait always gets worse as it gets closer. Knowing there would be months before receiving the knife was fine when I did it, it just felt good to have made the commitment. Knowing I could see my 4.7 this month is much harder. The 2 days between the email notification and delivery is excruciating!!!

A knifeless man is a lifeless man!

So what you really need is a knife!

I think we all need help because I bet we're all guilty of fondling our knives and guns before we use them. I've only used one Survive! right away and it was a 3.5 to make a quick fire and test out a new firesteel. Needless to say it worked without any issue.
